Coaching Search Rumors - Consolidated Thread

Do we think we can actually get Frost? Isn't he a perfect example of someone who will get swept up by other programs? I realize this is a long thread and I'm way behind so I apologize if this has been addressed.

No because he isn't a very good OC. Oregon fans want him gone.

I'm worried, like most others, about Frost having not been a HC beore, but he has 1 element to his resume that blows every other candidate out of the water.

Look, you don't just wake up one day knowing how to win; knowing what it takes to win. You have to learn how to do it. There's so many little things involved that even most experienced coaches don't know.

Frost has had the opportunity to play and coach under the greatest football coaches in the history of football! Osborne, Belichiek, Walsh, and most recently Chip Kelly.

They say he's brilliant, a tireless worker, and remembers everything. That's huge.

We talk about taking a risk on here, maybe he's the risk we need to take

Honestly, our uniforms are pretty solid. In fact, our road unis are very good. I wouldn't be opposed to some of the renderings with the "Trice Stripe" that have been shown on here, which look sharp, but getting different ones just to be different will have us end up getting some cobbled together Pro Combat rejects that look exactly like what they are, a non-elite school trying to jump on the Oregon bandwagon 15 years too late.

I think you're right as far as avoiding jumping on the fashion bandwagon too late. Those Iowa jerseys were uggggly. We can keep our old school vibe, but just update it so it's clean and less clunky (good start with the improved numbers this season). The home unis have to have some white.

I'll 100% support whomever they choose, but Frost just doesn't do it for me.

When are you going to reveal what this is?

Intimately familiar with Illinois' facilities. Pretty equal except Illinois has better amenities for the high rollers. Champaign Urbana is a better community BY FAR over Ames, IMO.

I've lived in Illinois for over 10 years. I RARELY hear compliments about Champaign. You are definitely in the minority here.

To each their own I guess.

(UPDATE 11/24) We are told today a tentative agreement on an offer in principle between USC and Tom Herman has been reached. The deal is contingent on Herman and his wife liking what they see when they visit USC and Herman and Ray Tanner being comfortable with one another. That visit could take place as early as Sunday or the first part of next week depending on the outcome of Houston’s game Friday with Navy. A Houston loss would expedite the process. All information at this time points toward Herman. All other names are simply fallback prospects should things not work out with Herman.
Note that this is the eastern USC, not the California one

I think some of the detractors for the BIG jobs with Frost is that he's running Chip Kelly's offense under Chip Kelly's old OC Helfrich. There's probably contention that Frost is just a product of that system and might not be that great.

It's a risk we would gladly take at ISU, but some of the jobs ahead of us on the pecking order might want him to be a head coach somewhere first.

Idk if his name has been thrown in the hat at all yet, but does anybody have an opinion on Todd Monken?
