Classless Hawks

I am sure there weren't ANY ISU fans happy to see Kansas' Joel Embiid missing from the Big 12 Tourney due to injury...

It's the same situation as UNC has with us. We realize it sucks for the other team and still feel bad for them, but we know it helps our teams chances of winning, so at the same time nobody is shedding any tears over it either.

Sure am seeing a LOT of ISU threads these days on Iowa boards. Remind me who's supposedly the little brother again?

I think it's great how McCaffrey was this savior who arrived in IC, and Hoiberg was this guy with no coaching experience, and how big the gap is between where the two of them have their programs right now given their similar starting points.

If I'm being honest, 95% of the Hawkeye posters on HN, HR, and the Scout site feel awful about Niang. Most of them are rooting for us. There are a few mouth breathers of course, but you'll find that here as well.

I agree with this, not only does every fan base have a certain percentage of 'mouth breathers', every fan base has a certain percentage of 'selective outrage', 'my feelings are hurt' types.

Wow. That dougbader guy has serious issues and extreme hate for something he's not a part of. I'd suggest he goes to seek therapy, there has to be some unresolved issues in his past makes him feel that seeing someone get hurt is something to basically throw a party for. I love this post from him though

Every hawk fan I have met and talked to has said that it is a terrible thing...don't know what they are saying behind my back. But there are some classless jerks on that board. However, there is a lot of debate over who is trolling who over there which is comical. Beat NC.

this was supposed to be Iowa's year. We were rebuilding and they returned everyone from their NIT run last year. It was their time to shine. Finally they were going to be able to stick it to ISU fans and throw it in our face how they were better than us, how they did it the right way, and that they were #rising while we were going backwards. The preseason hype was over the top. local media was fellating their program and anointing them final four contenders from day one. They all bought into it...

then, the season actually happened. turns out, pre season hype and telling yourself and everyone who will listen that you're an elite team doesn't mean jack ****. We ripped their hearts out in Ames with some help from Hilton Magic, they lost to nearly any team with a pulse they went up against throughout the season, and down the stretch they collapsed worse than football players after a Chris Doyle led workout. Their fan base started to turn, senior team leaders were telling fans to "suck a fat one", their coach continued to act like the petulant child that he is, and the wheels came totally off. They couldnt even make the NCAA field (the part that matters anyway) when they had been considered a lock just a few weeks prior by virtually everyone and were a legitimate contender in their conference. An epic meltdown by their team culminating in an even bigger meltdown by their knuckle dragging fan base.

we have had a great year and won a tournament championship. We're still playing and have a good shot at making the round of 16. Iowa has had to sit there and watch that unfold while their team and coach completely fell apart. The flat out jealousy has boiled over at this point and the vocal part of their fan base knows nothing else other than stooping to the lowest common denominator type of internet aggression. They can celebrate Niang's injury all they want. but it doesn't change the fact that our program is where it is and their's is a raging dumpster fire on the verge of another head coaching search. yuck it up Iowa fan boys, it's all you have.

For the win.

My step son who goes to Iowa has Iowa State to win his bracket. I asked him why? and he said because they are good.

I tried to get him to Iowa State. Really likes Iowa State, but he and his sister have been hawk fans long before I showed up.

Thats the message board equivalent of an alley-oop 360 tomahawk in Zach McCabe's hungover face.

He posts here from time to time as "TexasAlamo" or something like that and you've hit the nail on the head. There is quite a back story and without going into it too much, it involved chemical exposure at a pretty young age and some clinical trials that did not go as planned. I'll leave it at that. If you knew the whole story, you'd be more saddened than offended. The message board routine is part of the therapy.
