I always associated corn bread with barbecue. Chili & cornbread sounds like a weird combo to me. Cinnamon rolls all the way.

I think both are delicious with chili, but I grew up with cinnamon rolls so that's the route I went.
chili = cinnanom rolls/ ham and bean soup = corn bread
Never heard of this cinnamon roll nonsense.

And you wonder why some people make fun of the Midwestern chili traditions when they pair it with effing cinnamon rolls.
Corn bread would be fine. But nice thick chili needs a roll of Ritz crackers and each individual cracker is an edible spoon used to get a heaping scoop of chili.

Must be a regional thing? I grew up around the Fort Dodge area, and in school they always served cinnamon rolls with chili. Never cornbread.
At school we always had cinnamon rolls with chili. At home i'll put some cheese and fritos in it. Sometimes a peanut butter sandwich to dip in it.

Sometimes adding a little pickle relish to the chili with sour cream and cheese really adds to the experience
Cinnamon rolls, especially with icing, are way too sweet to combine with chili. Those are two items that are good in their own right that do not need to be combined.
I’m team corn bread (in muffin form) without any butter or honey on them. When I eat chili, I’m looking for something savory with some spice to it, so adding too much sugary stuff is a no-no.
If I want a little crunch and added saltiness, Fritos or bust. GTFO with saltine or oyster crackers. That stuff is for soup, not chili.

Possibly. But if cinnamon rolls with chili is wrong, I don't wanna be right.
Thanks to this forum I had to try the cinnamon roll/chilli combo so the girlfriend made it for me and it was disgusting.
