Chris Cornell passes away after show

"I caught the moon today. Pick it up and throw it away"

Dammit, Chris. Too soon, man. Layne Staley, Curt Cobain, Scott Weiland, Chris Cornell, all gone. Hey Eddie, you need to stay around. I'm not ready to say goodbye to all of my college musicians yet.

I don't put Vedder with Kurt, Layne, and Chris...I think he's from Illinois originally then to Seattle via SoCal. Not a true NW guy.

He's a pretty avid pot head and red wine aficionado, but I don't think he's anywhere close to early grave territory with either. I think McCready was the only one in PJ to get into the hard stuff, and he's been past that since the late 90's.

That said, I thought Cornell had things squared away.

Ament and Cornell were big heroin guys back in the pre blow up days iirc but seriously it's the alcohol abuse from an early age that destroyed Cornell. Legendary alcohol abuse. I'm not saying he was abusing alcohol now but his brain and liver had to be destroyed at this point and I'm sure he was replacing that hole with other things. Such is the ways of substance abuse.

This is from a couple days ago. Dave Grohl, talking about Soundgarden.

Dave nails it, imho. In a time and place that was the Seattle music scene of the late 80's/early 90's, even with the large number incredibly talented bands, and Soundgarden still managed to stand out.

Cornell's career in music is just incredible. He's got so much good stuff to his credit. Really remarkable to think back on all of the amazing music he was a part of.

Cool to hear.

I've been listening to a lot of Soundgarden and Audioslave the past few days. Enjoying it and being sad by it at the same time, if that makes sense.

totally makes sense. I've been doing the same thing. I think my wife is getting sick of it

I hate to be crass, and I think Chris Cornell is among the greatest rock vocalists of all time, but this is a money grab.

There won't be any more new Soundgarden to find(:() or any opportunity to be part of a Soundgarden experience. All parties are trying to max out any $$$ left out there.

Sure, but it’s not like King Animal was anything spectacular, either. The recordings exist, and there is a demand, so why not? I’m stunned that, after this much acrimony, the band and Vicky managed to reach an agreement.

How'd you feel about Nirvana releasing You Know You're Right?

As great as Soundgarden, Audioslave, and TotD was, his solo stuff was even better IMO. His covers of Thank You and Billie Jean are so good.
