Just wondering if anyone has heard anything about ISU recruiting Christopher Campbell out of Cherokee, Iowa. I grew up close to there and have heard from family and friends back home that he has been contacted by phone from Kansas and Missouri. I guess he has also been getting letters from Notre Dame and Michigan. Any idea if ISU has talked with him at all? He's just a junior this year. I think he's about 5'10-5'11 180 plays receiver and return man. No he put up a lot of yards this year and is supposedly really fast. Just putting the name out there. Maybe somebody wants to send something to Chizik about him.

If I'm not mistaken, Cherokee runs a very pass happy offense similar to Texas Tech, which could explain some of the outrageously high numbers.

It is true. That is all that they do. I am from Spencer and we played them, and I think that they ran the ball maybe two time, and it was the quarterback that ran. The game took forever. They spread the field and throw every down.

What's the quality of play like in the Lakes Conference these days? Back in the day, the only team that ever had success was Emmetsburg...they ran a "gimmick" run offense where they sprinted to the line and did kind of a "pop and go" stance...they usually knocked the other team on their rears and ran for 400 plus yards...they hardly ever passed.

I am from Estherville. Emmetsburg is down. Not nearly as good as they have been in the past. We beat them this year and got into the playoof picture in our district. They used to have a machine but no longer. They still have some good skill players and, by the way, we use the same style out of the huddle that Emmetsburg does. Keeps the other team off balance I think.

Yup it is true, Cherokee does use a 5-wide out set, very similar to Texas Tech signaling routes in to the receivers from the sideline. Personally though, if I was looking at receivers for D-1 level I would want one that has been thrown to a lot.... and if this kid is as fast as I've heard he could be one to keep an eye on.
