Well, it's official, I own a Wusthof. I went and picked one up today along with a Henckles honing rod. Now what shall I cook.

I want to say thanks for all the advice, it really helped more than you know.

I do a Google search for Wusthof knives and CF comes up. Any feedback on the knife since you have been using it for a while Guitarchitect?

No kidding, thats funny. Good advertising out of Jeremy and CF then.

Regarding the knife. I totally love it. It could be the fact that I had a really, really, really crappy knife before hand, or the fact that it really is an awesome knife, but either way, I'm soooo glad I spent the money finally and got the knife. The weight is nice, and just slices through what I'm cutting.

Maybe just being partial to the same brand, but because I've been so satisfied, I'm already considering getting more of the set in the same brand. Paring knife is next, already got shears for cutting, and then we'll go from there.

Sorry I'm no expert at which knife to get, but I will say that I have nothing against the one I got. And with the 20% off coupons I always get from Bed, Bath and Beyond, it made the purchase even more worth it.

I did just buy the "One Man" Honing Rod instead of the "Two Man". I saw no need to spend the extra money on what should be the same type of rod.

I bought some Kitchen Aid knives and they slice through fingers GREAT!! :arghh:

Dang, saw this thread too late. I personally really like Cutco. American made, fantastic quality. They sell them door to door and also at the state fair they have some great specials. Check them out. Absolutely great knives. The same company makes KaBars also, which I believe is what most people in the military use.

Those are sold by the amway guys right?

What's the deal with Wusthof and Henkels? Same company and different lines?

They are amazingly similar (identical)

They are different companies, but they are amazingly similar because they are authentically German-styled. Germans have a thing for traditional styling, especially for knives and guns.

Wuesthof is considered to be a higher grade of knife, in Germany. But Henckels isn't shabby.

My wife and I own both, and she prefers the Henckels, while I prefer the Wuesthof.
