I always cheer for Big 12 in non-conference games.

Watching this past week...it's obvious we need to be much stronger defensively as a team. And a more consistent 3 point shooting team. Tougher willed. Tougher minded.

I say especially the stronger on defense. We played great defense at times this year, and when we did, we were practically invincible. Mental letdowns on defense were our greatest Achilles heel.

I am cheering for Tech, which is strange for me. I doubt I would cheer for Kansas, although maybe. I watched the TT, West Virginia game by some accident of fate, in the Big 12 tourney, and WV had lots of luck to win that, plus TT seemed lax on their normal defense. That game must have been inspirational for playing in the NCAA tourney. They have been solid all the way through. One more time.

Take a look at Beard's coaching record. He has coached some pretty nondescript teams, sure....but he's won everywhere he's been, in some cases in a big way.

He cut his teeth under Knight, and it shows. Tech runs that pure motion offense as well as anyone, and he has managed to get his players to buy in on defense. Not easy to do in basketball.

Plus he's gracious and complimentary both in victory and defeat. If we didn't have CSP I'd love to have him patrolling the sidelines at JHHC.

I have no beef with Tech. In fact, they are probably pretty similar to us in a lot of ways.

I'm also a little jealous, but better them than a lot of other teams.

Looking forward to cheering on the Big XII to men's championship tonight. We already got the women's title!

They had it in the bag, and then allowed an open uncontested shot at a three when only a three pointer would beat them. Bad mental mistake.
