Finally got to watch the postgame. Self is good in these. Doesn't make a lot of excuses and isn't evasive at all. Always has some insights into why things fell the way they did, and is always complimentary too.

Self makes me nervous. I feel like he is scouting our players for possible portal transfers everytime I see him grinning on the sidelines. He is, however, a very good coach.
He tried to play it off in the press conference as only costing them 1 point. However, I don't think he intended to get that technical. And I would argue that it cost him much more than the 1 point. It sent him into half-time with a significant deficit. More importantly, it sent us to half-time with a huge momentum boost. That technical did them no good and did them more harm than he admitted. Thanks Bill.
All of these things are true:
- He's a great coach, 100% the best active coach in MBB
- He's not a bad guy / villain / ***hole
- His program was among the cheatingest programs in the pre-NIL era. It is not coincidental that a couple years into NIL being in full swing, suddenly the likes of KU/Duke/Kentucky/UNC are not so dominant anymore.
- The "deliberate" part of "deliberately getting T'd up" rarely happens while the game is still competitive and is rarely if ever a good strategic move
I could listen to Self all day. I've never understood the hatred for him. Yes... KU cheats... but I do like Bill.
I hope KU destroys KSU this year. They haven't played each other yet have they?

Complete security and confidence. No need to sugarcoat, be defensive, or fabricate things. Arguably the GOAT of this conference
Self is as cutthroat as they come. Cheats with the best of them, at a blue blood etc. He should be easy to hate, but he’s a genuinely likable, ex-Ok St player, and old Big 8 at his core
Self wasn't wrong on the comment about this team vs. Fred's teams. I read it as him highlighting that this team beats you in a different way, not as a disparaging remark on this team's talent. I think he was complementing TJ, he recruited a lot of those guys and they won a lot of games, now he has a very different team with very different guys and still winning a lot of games. Seemed complementary to me, wasn't offensive.
Lipsey is a proud Ames kid, he's got that hate in his heart for our rivals, I'd be shocked if he went to KU.
