***CFB Transfer Portal 2022-23 thread***

Lots of Iowa fans seem to think Cade is going there. Would certainly be interesting.

We've heard about young offensive linemen coming up for the last few years, and still no improvement.

The best case scenario for next season is a new OL coach that can get more out of the current group, and at least 1 or 2 starters are from the portal.

Honestly I'd prefer not to see a any of the current line on next year's starting lineup. I think they're damaged goods at this point. I kinda feel bad for them, but at this point they are what they are: bad.

New o-line coach and new players.

Alabama OL Damieon George has entered the portal. Im guessing everyone is after him,,though.

I don't think we really need an RB. Norton has looked good the last few games. I think he should be the guy going forward. I really feel bad for Brock. He reminds me of Mike Warren. He's been loyal to ISU through everything he just doesn't seem to be able to get it done. I wonder if he would be better off in a different system. I wouldn't want him to leave but from what I've seen Norton plays more like Hall and seems much more explosive than Brock.
Can he play safety?

The line is the main problem not RB’s

I generally can see a path similar to what i see happening in basketball where football teams can fill most of their rosters with 21-23yr old transfers to be able to compete with and beat 18-19yr old 5 star recruits. Age/size/experience can beat out talent, especially OL and DL. I feel like this should be our path to success here at ISU.

The problem with the portal is you better have a backup plan if you don't get your guy.

The recruiting window for transfers is so short, a staff needs to do a great job of sifting through players to ID guys they have a realistic chance of adding.

Plus the competition is steep for guys who are starter material.

I guess what I am saying, it might be possible for Iowa State to use the portal to create competition at need positions. But I don't think the portal can fix a lot of gaps.
