CF Pickup Basketball

While the park that hiphopp suggested isn't the perfect scenario, it probably wouldn't have anyone else trying to take the court and works any day where there isn't rain. We just need a leader to take the reins... Not it.

I'm umpiring a lot right now because I need money. The park I'm talking about is Glenbrooke Park, just South of Oralabor Rd in Ankeny.

About 30 minutes away from Ames.

There's one full court. Not usually a lot of people there and we could work half court if we had to share.

Just like you "made it rain" the last time I played with you.

We need to find a place. Hell, there's a park by my house in Ankeny with a full court. We could probably lay claim to it most nights

Don't you remember all 1 baskets he made?

I remember he was super ticked that you didn't get there until too late. He must have saved all his "game" for you.

Now, I know I suck, but I don't pretend that I'm good either. I know my job and I do it to the best of my limited ability.

Like Fitzy said, we've been open to playing somewhere else but odds are someone will always be on a court on a nice day. There's no way we can play half court. That's no fun and it'd be way to cramped.

What we'd have to do is have someone who lives close to one of the courts (HipHopp or whoever) get there before the rest of us leave to make sure we get a full court. Otherwise it's not worth the drive. 9/10 times we played at Lied, finding a court was never an issue, but that's also because there was 20 courts, not one or two.

You guys should go in together on a house with a basketball court. Problem solved.

Another idea for us Ames area people is carpool to Ankeny and chip in a few bucks to the driver for gas money.

I'm always willing to drive. I go to DSM/Ankeny fairly frequently as-is, so getting people there and back shouldn't ever be an issue.

As for courts, All I know now apart from city parks is that DMACC just built a new outdoor complex with 2 courts. Generally, there are people there, but I bet that will dwindle down with summer and students going home.

Outdoor courts are like everything else in the spring time. 90% of people here are super lazy. Once it gets nice out people whine about basketball courts, tennis courts, golf courses, walking trails, bike trails, playgrounds for their kids being CRAZY packed. Give them a few weeks, they will settle down and you'll have free range to them all.

Approximately two months from now I should be cleared to ball again.

What did you injury did you have? I think you probably posted about it but can't remember.

I want a CF softball game this summer. Been discussed since I joined in 09.
