CF basketball analyst

TBH, finding basketball insiders is so hard. This has been a struggle for me for almost 20 years. We have former football players who want to do this stuff EVERYWHERE but basketball has never been the same. Scott was an absolute dream. I am hoping he will be back when his life calms down. Problem is, most basketball guys go overseas or move far away and don't really watch the games close enough to be an analyst. It's just tough.

FYI, I thought Settles was great on your 1460 Mondays.

Insightful. That's something I didn't consider.

Would any of the "football guys" who have shown interest be capable as basketball analysts? Not requesting that you ID anyone, mainly curious if knowledge could be applied either/or for FB/BB.

So how do you find one Chris?

@ChrisMWilliams

No idea where else to put this -- I enjoy the postgame "raw" reaction podcasts for basketball, but the last one was more of a recording of the ISU men's basketball pep band than you talking. I enjoyed that -- took me back to my own days in the band -- but it was very hard to hear you. You can know when they're done because the endgame sequence is always the same three songs (if you presume the game was won).

Just wait until they're done with the finale song from Looney Tunes then you're in the clear.

Apparently Chris is new to this. Give him another 20 years and he will figure it out. :jimlad:

Give us a guy like Ellerman to run the show and get recurring guests like Niang, Monte, Thomas, Melvin and Naz who have close relationships with Otz. Easier said than done but would be cool.

Seems like Fizer watches most games. At least I see him tweeting about them

I was going to say Austin McBeth, but it appears that he is the head coach at Friends University, an NAIA school in Wichita, Kansas.

Played rec bball with Scott when he lived and worked in Chicago after he graduated.
Super smart guy and seemed very driven. If I had to guess he used last year as a trial to see if he wanted to pivot into sports + broadcast journalism. Perhaps he didn’t like it and wanted to get back to the business life or best case it wasn’t the right time in his career and he wants to wait till he can fully dedicate to making the transition.
Anyways, that jumpshot is butter sweet in-person. Haha he does not look like a D1 player at first glance so it was funny watching people **** their pants once he got out there and started balling.
I played in a rec league again the UNI Bohannon brother and got tore up. Easy to be an armchair QB lol
