Wow..she is very lucky. I can't imagine how strong that current is on the main river if she would have gotten that far.I saw they had her out safely as of 2:45.
I've been telling my students to stay away from the river for just this reason.Wow..she is very lucky. I can't imagine how strong that current is on the main river if she would have gotten that far.
I heard on the news last night that they are arresting people who are in the area and not part of emergency crews. Who knows if they just said that as a deterrent to keep sight see-ers away but it is smart. If you are down there and don't need to be, you are either in the way or can possibly get yourself (or others who have to save your dumb ***) in danger.I've been telling my students to stay away from the river for just this reason.
I want to go look at the damn thing too, but my strong sense of self preservation so far is winning.

I swear I saw a tweet that said that, but I can't find it now. Here's the latest:

Some people just don't get it.. I am avoiding going downtown for this very reason. Friday downtown was a zoo and not because of the sandbaggers, it was the idiots just sightseeing. If you aren't helping, get the hell out.So instead of being in the restricted areas, all the idiots are slowing/stopping on the I380 bridge. Just stupid.
How in the **** has this event been over-hyped? How can the second-highest crest in history even BE over-hyped? The river is going to crest within a foot of initial projections. That's not over-hype, that's damn good forecasting and damn good preparedness on the part of the city.Yes, you corrected me. But my next statement was next time the river is expected to flood at 10'+ over flood stage, the people won't take it seriously because of this "over-hyped" event.

They are. I work on the SW side and love on the NE side. I usually jump on 380 at Glass and get off on 1st Ave. Decided to go around on 30 to 13 on the way home. 30 was backed up to mile marker 25 before hwy 13. I said **** it and went to Mt Vernon and then back. Intersection of 13 and Mt Vernon Rd south was way backed up. Some extra driving, but didn't get stuck sitting.
Can't blame you. Those NE side hotties are hard to resist.
holy **** people. i asked if they were overhyping this and said studies show overhyping leads to less action down the road. you know not all questions are bad simply because they are asked.
