The correct answer is all three mixed together, with some green and red grapes thrown in, is the best.

Pineapple is the king of fruit!

It's well documented.*

I'll accept arguments for raspberries and really good oranges.

I mentioned before that honeydew is good when ripe. But it seems like I have a better success rate of finding ripe cantaloupe versus honeydew, so I give the edge to cantaloupe

I like honeydew better than cantaloupe but the window to get a nice ripe honeydew is so small that it’s like 1/3 is actually 100% enjoyable.

Melon rankings

1. Watermelon
1a. Honeydew Melon

Last. Cantaloupe

Did anybody's else's grandma refer to it as mussmelon?

I believe the other name for cantelope is "muskmelon". The ones coming in from Mexico or South America are awful tasting and are like trying to eat a brick. I know the Muscatine area is know to have the right type of soil as they are great tasting.

Heard the story once that eating cantelope will also make you more susceptible to mosquito bites. Kinda why at I am more prone to eat watermelon, plus adding a little salt on it just accentuates the flavor.

Agree about most honeydew. It's hit or miss and sadly, mostly miss.

Down in Florida a couple years ago I stumbled across something called a Golden Honeydew at a produce stand and took a chance on it. OMG! Nectar of the Gods! Puts ordinary store-bought honeydew to shame.

I have seen them up here in Yankeeland once in a while and some are pretty good but also can run into the not-ripe-so-tastes-like-snot problem.

I did the research and figured some things out. You can thank me by making a small contribution to my presidential campaign fund. I'll be at Sheslow Auditorium to announce my candidacy next weekend (Maybe it's for my daughter's college orientation. Maybe both).

Anywho. On to the important stuff. Both honeydew and canteloupe are considered to be muskmelons. Muskmelon seems to be the proper spelling but mussmelon is fairly common among us people that aren't smart enough to know how to correctly spell muskmelon.

Yeah, I am a victim of the Muscatine Melon myth: http://beeherald.com/opinion/muskmelons-not-exclusive-muscatine
