Putting a weak team in place of Iowa does nothing. Fans want to see rivalries. Players want to play in them. Recruits want to be a part of them when they get here. That is what college football is all about. When teams start ducking their rivals and top 25 teams stop playing each other non-conference i'm done with college football. Besides, you find a hell of a lot more about your team getting drilled by Iowa than beating up on a 1-AA team.
Ban Hawkguynot4Cy please.
**** iowa, how's that for attitude?
my attitude is I despise those bastards and want to kick their **** in every year.
We don't ever agree.........until now. This is ridiculous.
You should care about every game wether if it is a Conference game or not.ISU and Iowa both gain nothing from this series, I may have drank alot today, but I know that Rhoads could care less about this series. ISU will win big next week, Rhoads cares only about conference games, the emotion from the Nebraska game was completely differently than today's emotion. Schedule EIU not Eastern Iowa University, but Eastern Illinios.
I would like to have the series canceled as well. We need to be able to schedule more home tuneup games with the upcoming 9 game conference schedules we'll be playing.
The difference between dropping Iowa or dropping MWC/MAC/Big East teams is marginal.
We’re adding Baylor (67%) but dropping CU/NU (35%). Almost a wash.
The problem in the comparison here is the 50% assumption for iowa. Its only that if you go back to the late 90s\early 2000s. Go any farther back and it gets progressively worse. Over the last 5 years we're 20%. 2003-present (after the 5 year streak) we're 2-6 or 25%. Thats quite a big difference to the other category of games we're losing by keeping iowa.
Understandable, and theres a lot of ways to look at it... i just dont see 50% as a reasonable number. taking out our 5 win streak that isnt recent history at this point, and those years, aside from 2002, were bad years for iowa. I dont see them returning to that level anytime soon, so i think 2002 or 2003- present is probably a more appropriate comparisonI agree the last 5 years is bad vs. Iowa, as was pre-98, but I think we were worse vs. mid-majors prior to the 2000s, also. Didn't check back that far — I wanted to use recent history just as a litmus.
false. there have been multiple threads on this in the past, including many this summer. i believed before, and still believe, that ending this seasonThe only reason this is coming up is because we got wrecked today. This past week, who wanted to dump it?
Honestly Iowa has more reason to get rid of it then us. It is a trap game for them most years.
last i heard gate-sharing is ending... plus, an additional home game every other year during our prime attendance month of september will cover for losing the iowa gameAnd we get a bunch of money for it, they lose money.
Ducking a good team just to try to make a bowl is just plain bs. No team should make it to a bowl by bs-ing their way through. Somehow Boise State does it, but they can't really help it.
i LOVE the series and the rivalry but HATE losing to those cocky a-holes. instead of dropping this series, why dont we instead wish for some better recruiting and make it so we can hang with these guys again
