Can we talk about Nebraska?...

Great coach. Great hire. Where does he recruit? IMO that is the issue, talent black hole in Lincoln. I’d love a good kN team, one that finishes 1/2 in the BigW. But.... Frost doesn’t have the connections for recruiting.
He’s laid out about 20 offers so far in a day. A 4 Star RB that decommited from FSU today has extremely high interest it seems.

Offered a 3 Star Wisconsin commit from a Lincoln HS so that will be interesting as well.

I’m guessing he gets them a very good recruiting class next year.

They did have a coach with connections in OH, PA, etc.

Absolutely critical to pull in a class that takes advantage of his current recruiting interests...very similar to what Campbell did by pulling in several Ohio area kids. There will be interest...definitely...and given Central Florida's current recruiting class...he probably will do well.

Recruiting isn't Nebraska's problem. They have still been pulling in good classes on name brand alone.

What is funny is watching all the Nebraska media which are all Nebraska homers drool all over this guy. I had to stop following Jared Stansbury on twitter because it was becoming a Nebraska love fest.

He’ll have the new coach bump and his name is still big in Florida. But that will fade.

Success is relative. If NU fans are asking to become Iowa, Frost will do well. If they think he’s going to make them an equal of Penn St, Ohio St, Michigan etc, they’ll be disappointed.

We all know Nebraska fans aren't going to accept anything less than being a championship program. They have run coaches off for winning 9-10 games a year.

The most recruits Nebraska has landed from the state of FL in a single recruiting class was 4 and that was in 2014. Frost has his work cut out for him from a historical perspective. I'm sure he can bring in more FL kids than they traditionally have.

I just checked this on 247s site, which goes back to 1999. https://nebraska.247sports.com/Season/2018-Football/Commits

Can't say that I fault Jared or any Husker fan. Frost will bring a drill-sergeant level of discipline to the program, perform at the highest level or get out. Plus he has already proven he knows how to develop an underperforming team and win. Everyone right now is just expressing their opinions, or perhaps their hopes, but I will not be surprised if Frost has them in the top 25 and competing well for the B1G West within just 2 or 3 years.

Is the 2 years that Frost has been in Florida enough to have established a Florida connection? Or do the Florida high school coaches simply remember him as the guy that left for a bigger paycheck as soon as he got it? You would have to look deeper into his assistant coaches to see if there are long term connections to Florida.

Oh I absolutely agree. I'm just saying if Frost is going to leverage those contacts in Florida (and why wouldn't he?) then he is going to be building a roster that Nebraska hasn't seen before. That could be a good thing or bad thing. Too many Nebraska fans are thinking this a "return to normalcy" when it actually is similar to when Callahan attempted to implement the "Mid-West Coast Offense."

I've got some swamp land to sell Nebby fans if they think Frost is bringing back the 90's. He brings a Big 12 spread offense with a serviceable defense...think Oklahoma State this year...maybe even to a lessor extent Oklahoma. Now, if he can resurrect the Black Shirts..maybe they have a chance to hang with the bigs in the BIG. That will be the challenge.

Yeah, he should be fine recruiting. NFL player, younger coach, selling a high octane offense, etc

I think his potential issues are how patient the fanbase is. The fanbase has an unrealistic view on the current talent level and there is a pretty big rehaul needed to run the same style of offense that he had at UCF. I think it's going to be a couple years before you start seeing results.

This is also a fanbase that has a very specific preference for the style of football they play, and it's not what Frost is bringing.

Bringing the spread to the Big 10 is really the only reason I'm kind of rooting for Frost (and just puked in my mouth..).
For the same reason I was excited for the possibility of Leach in the SEC. I want to see what a solid spread coach can do against these supposed vaunted defenses.
Indiana has tried to do it and they were able to put up points, but they are Indiana.

The thing I scratch my head about is this guy really hasn't been coaching that long and he is going to turn the into a top 10 team just because? I have my doubts...I suppose you can compare him to the Fred Hoiberg hire for us, but basketball is a different animal from football. Nebraska has some fundamental problems, that their fanbase refuses to accept.

Maybe more of a Kliff Kingsbury thing, IMO.

Why?

I don't get why anyone not from Nebraska would attend that school or cheer for it. Makes no sense.
