Campbells Ohio game exit video

Players should get a lot of credit for making coaches look good, but it’s also on the coaches to identify the talent and convince them to come to somewhere like Ames.

That's probably gotten a lot harder in the past couple of years where facilities and coaches alone won’t cut it. Add on the fact that you’re trying to ignore a fan base that has a very vocal minority who thinks they know what’s best for the program.

That’s no different from any other large program but what they have (that we don’t) is MONEY.

It just seems like ISU now has a pattern of coaches who seem to burn out FAST after early successes. Paul Rhoads, Steve Prohm, now Matt Campbell. Hell just look at the way Tyrese Hunter was treated after he transferred to Texas.

People say “they need to suck it up that’s why we pay them millions of dollars a year!” but sometimes it’s not about the money. The culture is what will keep people around long term and right now there are some serious problems with ours.
if it wasn’t about the money Campbell would be a gym teacher and coaching high school football.

Honestly surprised how many people here are defending the fan. Matt's reaction wasn't professional, but that's some tavern hawk level obnoxiousness from the fan.

I think it’s just an overall encapsulation of the situation. ISU fan is becoming Iowa fan rapidly. CMC is not Kirk Ferentz.

Yes it the fans fault. I am personally responsible for ISU not being able to field even a mediocre OL in 8 yrs. I did not send enough evidence to the coaches of their failed offense schemes to help free up holes in the DL and have WR run in moderately advanced route trees including past the yard to gain markers and over the middle (although I will take credit for the TE pass over the middle in the 1st quarter - just needed to be forcefull through the whole game). I mistakenly organized a betting pool - sorry about that. I will own up to not understanding ST is actually one of the 3 major components of a football game - my bad.

I will try and do better in the future.

A real ISU fan?? I doubt it. Jersey and hat look new. A guy with beads and a Pom Pom in the back of his pants. I have reservations about this guy being an ISU fan. If he was upset about Campbell, he would have sounded more po’d about it. He looked at the camera kinda of almost smiling about it.

lol wat

They lost to Ohio. Not Ohio State.................Ohio.
Yep. I think it's more coaching than lack of talent but I've been getting blow back for the past couple of weeks. Either way, we aren't getting that high class of skill player. Kohl might turn out to be pretty good but he didn't look ready against UNI.

Iowa State gets a check for tens of millions of dollars every year. Stop letting Jamie convince you he's a poverty athletic department.
Which can't be used to pay the players.

Between the gambling probe, the Ohio loss, the loss to Iowa which makes him 1-7 against them, and now this, I'm struggling to remember a worse 3 month stretch for an ISU football coach. That's a pretty incredible achievement considering our football history. I love CMC and reaching these depths was unfathomable 4 years ago, but here we are.
You have to be sh***ng me. The 3 years with Chizik and last year or 2 with Rhoads were bottom of the barrel. Not even going to talk about the 90s or debilitating NCAA violations of the 80s.

Unfortunately coaches are in a no win situation for this. If you say something back your a bully if you say nothing some people think your weak. Just a bad look overall and I see why head coaches have their entourage around them to handle these situations

FanDOM. No **** it’s not about you exclusively. But thank you for calling yourself out as a contributor to the toxicity.

Yes. You hire a guy to win gd mf games. You give him time to see if he can do it. If he does hooray. At ISU you prob give a guy more time than average.

But if he cant win, then you try again with a new guy. Thats how it works.

It’s hilarious that people that are really behind CMC are often saying things like “we just need to try something different on offense!”

It’s the same concept.
