Caitlin Clark

Good size and versatile skillset. I think she's struggled with the mental side of the game and has never really felt comfortable. I liked her game when she was at ISU, but for every great play, she'd have two headscratchers. Can't say I'm too disappointed to see she's not making a huge impact at UI while we're 21-3.
Grass is always greener. Bill is not everyone's cup of tea. Looking at a 21-3 team, big crowd and playing in the sink hole to a few toothless hillbillies has got to make one think maybe I F*** up here.

I doubt the Iowa WBB fan demographic is much different from ISU, and they have had 8000+ fans (paid attendance) at four of their last five home games. But we can agree CHA sucks.
Official attendance was 9800 for the Maryland game...wonder if that is actual or sold?

Evidentially NIL Rules do not apply here - my understanding was that there could not be any school references or could not appear in logo gear in these deals. The new Emily Ryan Tee that came out reminded me I had seen this.

I know someone who goes and he said there have been less than 3,000-4,000 butts in seats. Tickets sold yes people who show up not so much.

I watched 1 of these and I don't think more than half of those paid showed up. One of the more impressive things about ISU is that the 9-10K fans are actually there at the women's games.

Does "tickets sold" include season tickets given to donors at certain levels? If so, it may really skew the numbers because lots of those folks don't actually come to WBB games.

Not positive but I think the logo is up to the University.

A Quick Google Search showed these Guidelines for NIL Deals (Bold added)

DO’S
  • Consider how you can profit off of your NIL – think about the companies and markets that would be most open to you based on your sport, level, location, etc.
  • Remember that there are certain categories of goods that you cannot profit off of (alcohol, gambling, etc.)
  • Obtain legal advice before making any type of NIL agreement
  • Disclose any NIL activity to your school’s compliance officer
DON’TS
  • You cannot receive any performance-based incentives
  • Your NIL agreement cannot incentivize you to attend a certain school
  • You cannot use your school logos (in almost all cases) to benefit your NIL
  • NIL activity cannot include time spent during team-organized activities
  • Don’t take the first deal that is offered to you – you are free to negotiate as appropriate, and you’re also free to seek multiple opportunities

I suppose technically, that ad doesn't use the U of I logo or its fonts (if it has any.) Although even saying "University of Iowa's" could be protected. Again, if they've actually taken those steps. The picture is of her wearing her uniform.

State law would control. And I don't recall the Iowa legislature passing anything related to NIL in the last session.

Also, Hy-Vee is already a sponsor of UI, so they'd have permission to use UI marks.

I wonder if they can use the uniform, logo, etc. as long as the school is okay with it. Most schools are going to allow it unless it is for something controversial.
