BYU Postgame Thread

Hope Mika is okay. We want to be known as a tough team, but not a thug team like the Georgetown of the 80s. I've already been getting texts from friends who are fans of others teams calling us out on that one.

Unless I'm crazy there wasn't a player on the court after Ejim fouled out who has been in the program more than 2 years. It wasn't pretty but that was a lot of young and new guys who just found a way to win in a really, really tough situation.

This team is going to be a problem for a lot of teams this year. I don't see any reason, as of now, that we can't be a 4-seed or so. Great team win, in a really tough spot.

This team definitely has something special, I thought the bad call throughout would catch up with us in the end, that and missed lay-ups, very good road win. Can't wait to see M Morris gain a little confidence, sky is the limit, I wish SDW, Bufford and Gibson were seeing a little mor time, if that does not change conference road wins with a shallow bench and new foul rules may be tuff....

Classic.

I'll be interested to see what Kane has to say about that play. It did look like he just suddenly decided to poke Mika in the eye. His look of surprise makes me at least hope that it was an accident. If it was just an accident, the punishment was too harsh considering what had just happened a few plays before. Seems like BYU got all of the calls until the end when their influence with the refs seemed to disappear. That one play it looked to me like we traveled and then the missed TO at the end of the game. BYU fans must be losing it right now. However, without some very marginal calls BYU wouldn't have been even close at the end...
It was an accident. He was anticipating a ball fake and instead he leaned forward. His hands were goung for a ball. You couldnt poke both Eyes like that intentionnally unless you were some kind of kungfu master.

Agreed in that it should not have been a flagrant. A big guy normally goes up with the ball not down like Iceman did on that play. Kane just reached where the ball should have been and it was pulled away. Certainly a foul, but not a fragrant. An elbow to the jaw is also apparently not a flagrant foul, but a block. OKay? I thought the rules specifically made any elbows thrown above the shoulder a flagrant.

Did they call out Mika for the face elbow he got REWARDED for throwing? Your friends are jealous hawk fans, ignore them.

Well, I have to be up for work in 6 and a half hours and won't be sleeping anytime soon.

I did not expect to win this game. Midway through the 1st half, I thought we were going to get blown out. Going to half, I thought "we are lucky to be down by just 5". At 9:45 PM CST, we had maintained our position...still down 5, but making a lot of moves to close the gap.. I went against everything I have ever known and sent a text to a buddy saying, "I feel...if we can get the lead...we win."

We finally took the lead around the 6:00 minute mark and never gave it up. In between, we lost Kane, Ejim AND Hogue (I did not consider those things happening when I sent the text).

This team is TOUGH!!!
