Sorry to bring the bad news, but it looks like Carpenter has decided to join the #1 team in the nation and not the cyclones.... tough break for us, but it's great to see that chizik and the staff saw what this guy was capable of doing before anyone else did... the article is confidential but it says on their commitment list that he's committed to them

Alabama Crimson Tide Football: BamaOnLine.com -- Alabama Football

Alabama...Iowa State...Alabama...Iowa State....

Remove the Cardinal-n-Gold glasses and while it's no fun to admit - it is a relatively easy decision.

Didn't expect to get him when the big boys came calling - but held out a slight hope. Oh well...

Carpenter - its official

he's going to Alabama.....

Says a lot about the young man, we believed in him when nobody else did, and where was his loyalty.....

Guess its all about him....

Hope he gets to Alabama and sits the bench for two years.....

NEXT!!!!!!!!!

IMO, great decision in his case! Would you rather go to a 2-9 team or a 12-0 team that could be playing for the SEC Championship and NC every year?

Players coming out of high school have no loyalty to a coach or a school just b/c they recruited him first! If people really believe that, then that is insane! It is what fits best for that certain player and gives him the best opportunities for the future and if his dream is to play in the NFL, Alabama is the way to go.

Yeah, it says he isn't stupid. We would all do the same thing if given the opportunity.

Well, is he going to sit on the bench at Alabama and just be on a winning team, or is he actually going to play. If he's actually going to start, it's an easy decision. If he's a bench warmer, than I don't understand. I never understood the guys who go to a big name school just to sit on the bench, as opposed to going somewhere else and starting.

Wanting to be part of the #1 team in the nation surely doesn't reveal a weakness in his character. Like Al, I also wonder why he would do it to sit on the bench, but that seems to be a common idea, to sit on the bench at a prominent place as opposed to being the man at a place like ISU.

Still, sounds like he made a good choice for his next step. Who wouldn't want to be part of something ranked #1?

Are you working for the employer that first hired you, or have you changed jobs in your career?

No i definitely would look at the opportunity to excel - and the weather - and the history....

If thats the only thing that matters, then we should stop talking about Harrison Barnes - he should be gone too.....

There is more to it.....

For Carpenter i was just pointing out that he was a nobody recruit and we believed in him, when it came time to return the favor he dashed for the limelight - i wish him no success.....

ummmmm........don't see your analogy....

With employers sometimes you have to move on to get a promotion....not quite the same.....

He had a starting position with his name on it...........

The only thing in question would be wins/losses etc....

I would think recruits that start to get a lot of attention think they can start for anyone. Tough loss for the good guys but shows the staff knows what they are doing.

Is he always going to sit on the bench at Alabama, or do you think sometimes he'll stand by the bench waving a towel to get the crowd pumped?

:biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh:

We know reserve O-lineman at ISU are #1 in the country at this!

The guy made a choice and it's all about him? Of course it is. It's his choice, his career. Not everyone wants to be a Cyclone just because.

Look at Matt Cassel. Never started one game at USC and is now the starting QB for the Patriots and is almost guaranteed a huge pay day from some team.

Even if his is 2nd string for 3-4 years, all it takes is 1 year as a starter at a big name school and wham, you are a NFL prospect!
