Bubu

Creighton ended up landing Ricky Kreklow and Cole Huff as transfers instead of Bubu.

Hate to say this, but if Bubu wants to play next year, it looks like he is going to have to enroll as a grad student and pay his own way as a walk-on. He was willing to go that route 5 years ago to have his shot at ISU. He even gave up DI soccer scholarship money, so maybe he should bite the bullet and go that route for 2014-15.

Diane Stahle, an Iowa assistant attorney general representing the Board of Regents who also appeared by telephone, countered that much of Boles’ retelling of the incident was based on depositions from the criminal case that had not been entered into the administrative record and was therefore irrelevant. It was not the court’s job to defer to Priester’s determinations, she added, but simply to review whether the board’s decision was legitimate.

Hmmm. Weasel argument, but may override the day.

I guess those that kept saying Bub was not found innocent but rather just had charges dropped now can be at peace that he has been at a much lower threshold of preponderance of evidence:
"The court found Thursday that ISU’s complaint that Palo violated the university’s student code of conduct stemming from a May 2012 incident to be unfounded and that no sanctions shall be “assessed by ISU againstâ€￾ Palo.

I would assume ISU and Leath will now be defendants in a civil case.

This is a pretty big ruling in the sense that courts are not very excited to overrule administrative decisions such as this. It pretty much indicates that Leath just decided to do whatever the heck he wanted to do without regard to the evidence and the court called him on it.

It will almost certainly be appealed and that will be an interesting decision to read.

Does anyone know what the outcome on ISU and Leath will be because of this ruling?

So does every still think Leath is a great guy and president?

I don't know enough to know if he is a good guy. I think he is a fairly good president. I think he made a huge mistake in the Bubu situation and I am glad that the court is calling Iowa State out on it. I would bet a lot of money that the reason Leath fought it was the focus by the federal government on sexual assaults on college campuses. Leath saw something that he felt was a sexual assault and overreacted. He deserves what he gets on this.
