Bubu

I hope Bubu takes some names and kicks some ***. I think he has gotten the shaft in this deal so far.

And yet, every time the case was brought before IMPARTIAL adjudicators, they found in favor of Bubu.

If a woman falsely accused you of rape, would you smile and say "thank you ma'am, may I have another?" or would you fight to restore your battered reputation by whatever means are at your disposal?

You're being blinded by your fan hood. The reality of the fact is that Bubu is setting an absolutely terrible precedent for student athletes.

First off, Bubu was never found innocent in a court of law. The case was dropped. I'm going to go out on the obvious limb here and say there is an extremely high chance that Bubu's lawyers first move was to remind the accuser that Bubu in fact is well known locally and plays on a very popular basketball team and her name was about to be run through the mud in a full blown slut shaming. Do to Bubu's standing in the community, people will believe it, mainly because they want to believe it. Bluntly, these people are ******* morons.

Second, he used the court system to fight his way back into a program that he was clearly not wanted in. Every comment that came out of ISU from those that matter in no way hinted that they thought Bubu was in any possible way innocent. They fought hard to keep him away, yet he still managed to keep his scholarship and standing on the team.

Now for his final act, he's turning around and still dragging the girl to court so he can throw her under the bus and attempt to come out completely clean. If she doesn't settle out of court (which would make Bubu look innocent to the unintelligent), she gets to spend her summer getting slut shamed in the Des Moines papers.

How are people not disgusted by this? He is writing the book on how to successfully get out of sexual assault cases for athletes everywhere.

While I respect your opinion in sensitive matters such as this, I find pretty much each of your points extremely flawed.

1. I don't think Bubu had quite enough clout to get the entire fan base on his side. Those of us who believe he is innocent believe so because of the case that was presented to us, not because he's a respected basketball player.

2. I don't think everyone who matters (and who "matters" is subjective in itself) wanted him gone. You don't know everyone's opinions, we just know the university administration's opinions. I think there are a lot more people that "matter" and may have wanted him back

3. At this point, you're assuming bubu is guilty and his accusor told the 100% truth. Is this possible? Yes. Do we have the facts to prove that? Absolutely not

Where did you come up with some of this stuff? Talk about making assumptions. How do you know Fred didn't want him back, the players obviously did. I think it's pretty safe to say that JP and Leath really screwed up with their public statements about the case, BuBu and the team, and obviously Leath really screwed up by delaying his decision so BuBu couldn't transfer and Fred couldn't get another scholarship player he could actually use without defying his bosses. But I can't imagine anybody who loves basketball not fighting to play for the team and the coach he loves (which BuBu did), or defending himself against what he feels are false charges and character assassination, which it appears he is about to do. We'll see where the chips fall.

Do you honestly think an AD and university president would go as far as they did in trying to keep Bubu away from their athletic programs if the evidence presented to them in any possible way indicated that Bubu was innocent?

The fact that he is now turning around and suing this girl is just disgusting.
Yes, if the Mom threatened to take civil action against ISU. Evidence does not appear solid, so the case is a bust.

Legal threats sometimes cause waves of action. The waves go out in all directions until they crash onshore.
Right now, it appears rape was not determined in the courts, but possibly in the student policy fallout.

You're being blinded by your fan hood. The reality of the fact is that Bubu is setting an absolutely terrible precedent for student athletes.

First off, Bubu was never found innocent in a court of law. Never said he was. It was not her choice to droop the charges. When her legal pursuit failed, she continued to go after Bubu via the student-athlete code of conduct, and when the administrative judge found no basis for the charges, she appealed his ruling to ISU administration. Threatening to slut-shame? At what point has Bubu even NAMED the girl? You are reaching here.

Second, he used the court system to fight his way back into a program that he was clearly not wanted in. When the charges were dropped against Bubu he was welcomed back onto the team by the other players and the coaching staff. He played in all of the rest of the games that season, including the post season NCAA games. Not a word was said against him by the administration or the AD.
Every comment that came out of ISU from those that matter again, not from his teammates or the coaching staff in no way hinted that they thought Bubu was in any possible way innocent. They fought hard to keep him away, yet he still managed to keep his scholarship and standing on the team. President Leath removed Bubu from the team, not CFH. President Leath did NOT take away Bubu's scholarship or his designation as a student "in good standing" . Why is that? And likely because of that head-shaking decision, the appeals judge issued the stay allowing Bubu back on the team. JP and later President Leath issued statements and/or spoke with the press. Bubu did not. Bubu never had to fight for his scholarship, and in fact would likely have been better off if Leath had made his decision in a timely manner and had revoked the scholarship, prompting Bubu to transfer to another school for his final year of eligibility.
For two years now, Bubu has been "thrown under the bus" and been the male equivalent of "slut-shamed". Again, at no time has he ever named the woman.

"You're being blinded by your fan hood. Bluntly, these people are ******* morons." I am neither blinded by my fanhood or an [expletive deleted] moron. Based on your slanted comments above, I do wonder what your agenda is here - do you have some skin in this saga?

Year and a half later and it is still being debated. Obviously more to come.

These two responses are exactly what I'm talking about.

You obviously believe a girl that lied to the country attorney and tried to fabricate evidence, and trust Leath who apparently ignored those facts and didn't even talk to the witnesses. The county attorney and judges that actually did talk to the girl and witnesses ruled the girl and her story wasn't believable. But those that tend to believe BuBu are wrong. Got it.

you are aware of the non-judicial process that controls this matter? If so, you are simply misrepresenting facts...if not you should familiarize yourself.

If the facts as I believe them to be accurate are disclosed I am most fascinated to see how Bubu explains the first intercourse with the female as non-consensual and his subsequent intercourse after the non-consensual to be characterized as consensual.

After reading what you have had to say, I respectfully disagree.

If something isn't accurate, please correct it. Maybe all 3 didn't say the girl's story wasn't credible, but their actions (or non action by the county attorney) would seem to say that.

What are you talking about? She texted him about hooking up, fact. They hooked up. Fact. She said after the fact to police that he ripped her blouse off in forcing himself on her even though hospital staff and her boyfriend gave testimony that they don't remember her blouse ripped when she came in. She and her mom said the blouse was ripped in their testimony. She washes the blouse and THEN rips the blouse before turning it over to police which police can tell the rip happened post wash based on forensic testing. This girl lied under oath and fabricated evidence both felonies. She is lucky she is not in prison. If I were the DA I would have pressed charges against her. I applaud Bubu for taking this action because it is actions like this that will let a real rapist get off because he will claim she lied and jurors will remember the Bubu case. How many rapists will walk free because of the disgusting actions of this young woman? I hope they hit her for legal fees and something like 20k in punitive damages.

Where are these so called facts?

rape or not, awful decision making by both parties that night and both refuse to be accountable.

CyPhillis is right about a few things. Bubu's criminal case never got to the ultimate fact finder (the jury) because the prosecutor (the same guy/gal that goes to trial on cases like this on a monthly basis) viewed all the evidence in the light most favorable to the State of Iowa and still drew the conclusion he couldn't get a conviction. This has nothing to do with Bubu being an athlete, this has to do with an alleged victim destroying her credibility by lying about evidence.

As a person that has prosecuted and defended people facing these charges there is nothing more dispicable than a person making false allegations. It ruins the accused's life in so many ways and because of people like you, there is always the sentiment that the accused got away with something.

I guess we'll all have to sit back and see what the facts are as the case proceeds. I hope that justice is done for all involved wherever that leads.

Why don't you include ALL facts?
