hahahaha bubu has no case to sue for damages.

hahahaha? I didn't say BuBu would sue for damages. But if you don't think people with much weaker cases have sued, the jokes on you. How hard do you think it would be for an attorney to show that BuBu was treated much differently from other ISU athletes that violated the student code, some convicted of a felony while BuBu was convicted of nothing? And how hard would it be for an attorney to show that Leath's delay on his decision made it difficult if not impossible for BuBu to transfer in time to get on another team? And how hard would it be for an attorney to show that Leath and JP's public statements put extreme pressure on Fred not to play BuBu? And Leath clearly insinuated to the media that BuBu had done something worse than other athletes who had been re-instated. Really? Why wouldn't the attorney ask "just what was BuBu convicted of, Mr. Leath, that's worse than felony assault"? I'm guessing BuBu just wants to get another year to play basketball somewhere to continue his development and hopefully his career in Europe, the D-league, or wherever. But if he doesn't get that year I'm sure there would be plenty of attorneys that think he has a case, maybe a good one.

I don't think bubu would want his business to be aired in a public manner like if he brought a civil suit.

They may not be stupid. They just enjoy making themselves and ISU look stupid.
Google Iowa state student conduct code. This is not exactly as clear as you may believe. The process is long.

Think that ship sailed a long time ago. It's been a very public case for what, two years now? Besides, the crux of the matter would be why he was treated so differently even than convicted athetes in so many ways when he was convicted of nothing. Just hoping for BuBu and everybody's sake that he gets another year someplace.

But everything has been discussed on vague terms. In trial it would publicly be went over with a fine tooth comb.

First thing is he must win this case. Then he goes after an ISU lawsuit. This may turn out to be an expensive foray by Leath into student policy.

I can't imagine they would file this civil lawsuit unless they have significant evidence of wrongdoing by the accuser. Otherwise, I think you'd "let sleeping dogs lie" and let this whole issue go away rather than make the details of that night public.

However, if he is correct in his assertion and the "victim" acted maliciously in attempting to have him prosecuted for something he didn't do, good for him for going after her in civil court.

I don't see how this would be any kind of precursor for civil action against the school. It's one thing to allege that someone maliciously attempted to have you prosecuted in a criminal court, it's entirely another to say the school acted wrongfully in kicking him out of school. We're talking about two entirely different governing standards.

Bubu...the Ames story that keeps giving. Harrison is in the pros. Walkon Doug is headed that way. But Bubu is still alive and well.

If I was Bubu I'd do the same thing. What Leath did was the biggest ****** thing I've seen in a long time.

Bring Geoffrey back please.

Based on some of the things being said about the accusers mom and one of the Board of Regents members (strong friendship and influence) these two cases may get more intermingled than we might have originally thought. Makes for good reality TV. The potential for some hides to be "nailed-to-the-wall" does indeed exist.

I cringe every time a Bubu thread is bumped, but I'm glad for this one.

IMO, people who file false rape charges are almost as bad as actual rapists. It ruins innocent people's lives, and makes actual rape victims less likely to come forward in the future. :realmad:
