Bubu on UConn's Napier?

Bubu expressed a desire in a recent interview that he wanted to petition the NCAA for a 6th year and transfer to another D1 school. If he plays one second of one game this year that would not be possible since that would then count as his 4th year of eligibility.
QFT. Bubu will not play and, at this point, it has nothing to do with his ability or The Man keeping him down. He wants to play next year by treating this year as a sort of hardship redshirt.

After Babb he was arguably our second best defender the last couple seasons.

While that may be true and is open for debate, that is nowhere near a "tenacious defender" or "one of the best on-the-ball defenders".

Please clarify...are you lolz'ing at the question, or the inferior spiderman trying to own this thread, or the volleyball player with a drink holdin' a**?

Mostly the question. Don't feel the need to point out that spiderman is a joke. Kind of like beating a dead horse with a cruise missile. ..unnecessary. I missed the volleyball thing. Will have to go back and look.

"The Ames native has shown he's comfortable handling the basketball and is one of Iowa State's best on-ball defenders. His head coach, Fred Hoiberg, has been impressed with Palo's play."

"The first thing that Bubu brings to this team is great defensive energy," Hoiberg said. "He's got great feet, great anticipation and he does a really nice job of keeping the ball in front of him."

What's with all the snobbery here? I asked a relatively simple question. I'm sure UConn would not be expecting it. He is an excellent defender. Yes it would probably create some drama but you weigh that with possibly going to the Final Four and maybe a Nat'l Championship game and I think the benefits outweigh not playing him.

Him losing the ability to POSSIBLY get a redshirt year I had not considered. However I bet he would give that up to play in a Final Four or National Championship game.

Lighten up people. ISU '91.

Bubu will not play. Where have you been? I have some terrible news about Whitney Houston to tell you before you suggest she preform the national anthem at the game.

Once this season is over I'm going to post a thread to debate...

1) Bubu winning his appeal
2) CFH Hoiberg recruiting Bubu to spend his last year in Ames
3) Whether or not he will get a scholarship or if Fred will pull it to use for transfer X
4) Whether or not Bubu needs a scholarship since his parents work for the university
5) Whether or not Leath/Pollard will suspend him once the season starts
6) If Bubu is actually Big 12 material

Then we can debate Bubu coming back as an assistant, graduate assistant, head coach, athletic director, etc.

The Bubu debates will never end although his Cyclone playing career ended a year ago.

(hopefully no jimlad needed)

You are right, it is a very simple question. The reactions come from it having been discussed since Palo was let back on the team. And then discussed some more. And then some more. It is a topic that has been discussed so much that it pisses people off.

Do you have the demand/expectation that every Cyclone fan get all of their news/updates from Cyclone Fanatic before they post a question? Give the guy a break.

You don't have to be up to speed on every post on cf and all cyclone news to know that if Bubu didn't see the floor in the last ten games including at least one that Ellerman did then he's not going to suddenly see the floor Friday as the defensive stopper against one on the better guards in the nation.

To be honest, if I was an outsider who was interested in hoping to be a contributor or even semi-regular poster I'd be afraid to start my first thread, for all the screaming, yelling and berating of first-time posters that happens more often than not in reaction to a first post.

This so much. I've followed this site and message board since it's creation and only recently started posting. Ya'll can be intimidating at times.

That being said, it is a pretty dumb post.

Lastly, why did all the volleyball pictures stop...

Pro tip if you're starting your first thread don't make it dumb.

That's not quite the full story. No matter what, this is his last year of eligibility without a waiver from the NCAA because it is his 5th year since he starting using his eligibility. The problem is both the 5 years to play 4 years rule and that it would use his 4th year of eligibility if he were to get a waiver to take 6 years to complete 4 years of basketball.

That being said, if I'm Bubu and ISU is in foul trouble in the Sweet 16, then I would burn that bridge. To play in a Sweet 16 or Elite 8 game would in all likelihood be a much better way to finish than would transferring to a less competitive school for a year.

Isn't it amazing ... Our vaunted liberal minded ISU administration ... Has punished Bubu on a PRESUMPTION of guilt?
They love using the legal hammer for their OWN agenda ... Yet ignore the law by presuming guilt and dictating punishment.

Freaking hypocrites.
