Bubble Watch? New ESPN Article

We will get in with less than 20 if that happens. 20 is not some rule.
yeah, it sort of used to be the rule a little over a decade ago, but now that more P5 teams are playing each other out of conference, it seems that's no longer the rule. Which is good as it encourages these teams to play out of conference games against each other.

I still look at it as though hitting 20 is a good place to be on selection sunday as you will have a lot less stressful day in case of upsets in tournaments.

Agree but now plenty of 19 win teams get in. Also our losses in the B12 will not hurt us at all.

Advanced metrics sure help too. Provides better data in a setting where teams are playing much different competition levels.

We’ve been locked on ESPNs bubble watch on every one that has been released this year. (They started them a few weeks ago.). The athletic bubble watch didn’t lock us right away, but did after TCU.

This year was the first time I can remember being a lock on ESPN right away.

I have started wondering if some Hawk troll works at ESPN given the Hawk announcers they give us on ESPN+. I have gone to checking out the announcers in the fabulous Rulzzz game thread, and just starting out the game with sound synch to Walters and Heft on Varsity App and TV on mute when I know the ESPN announcers will be awful. The only time I look at ESPN online is to do my tournament bracket so at least I miss their trolling there.

ISU was just a 3 seed from the NCAA committee's rankings not even a week ago. After two loses on the road to top 15 teams (one close, one not). ESPN thinks we're on the bubble? Don't give them clicks, **** ESPN!

Agreed. We have some serious issues and are not heading in the right direction before the tournament. But one REALLY bad loss (when we had a 23 point lead and that team has since beat KSU and Texas), and the only loss we've had since Missouri, on the road and on short rest off of another road game, is hardly a reason to put us anywhere near the bubble.

Now, if we lose out (next to impossible), meaning we went 2-12 to finish the year? Yes, we are likely out. But there are too many good wins, too many close losses, and not enough head scratchers to keep us out.

If tournament selections happened today and we were left out it might surpass the 2000 tournament seeding as the biggest screw job in ISU's history. There's simply no valid argument for it.

True. I think ISU was at 16 wins when ESPN's bubble watch started. Thought maybe it was a little premature to be a lock at that stage, although not by much. I, too, don't recall being locked at the bubble watch right away.

CBS Sports still doesn't have Iowa State as a lock.

We need to win 1 more before I am confident we are in. Finishing 17-14 after we were once 13-2 doesn't feel like a lock to me.

With that said, I feel good about our chances of winning at least 1 more game. Our defense is good enough to win a game somewhere along the way even if our offense continues to struggle.

We will win out at home and at least one in KC. 20-12 is my prediction. 4/5 seed.

Front page ESPN is not a good look for us.

What's going on 2015? Did your doctor change your medication? You've been going rogue on a regular basis starting these troll threads. It's not a good look. Did Jon Miller hack your account?
