Bruns - Iowa Everywhere

bc it's a lot easier to criticize on a message board when you know you're further from the problem and couldn't be put in a position to propose a solution and wouldn't know what to do if you were given the opportunity.

Not saying that's true of you, but there's a lot more interpersonal dynamics at play. Bruns has probably met w/ Manning in person, probably thinks he's a solid guy. He's not insulated like the rest of us.

Cutting into someone you don't know and don't care what happens to them is a lot easier than having a difficult convo w/ someone you have a tangential relationship to, but not enough trust to have accountability convos.
Then what’s the point of having him as an analyst?

Does it talk about the stupidity of snapping the ball 7 yards behind the LOS and handing off to a stationary running back just to gain an inch?

Brilliant play calling.
I'd laugh at this if it wasn't funny.

Unfortunately we may do this once or twice a game, like clockwork. Yup, the 3rd to last (iirc) possession against OklaSt. The shotgun handoff to stationary back up the middle, 4th and 1, yeah that one, loss of 2 yards! Brilliant.

Analyzing what went right and wrong and why does not need to include burn it to the ground and start calling for grown men's livelihoods.

You ever had someone get between you and your families bread?

Think it was Ye who said recently, it's akin to murder.

Yes, I agree. What is interesting about the portal though is: those players are out there - just need to find them.

I'm not sure how easy it is to get good lineman to transfer in if they've ISU play. I'd guess players want to get the development for a shot at the next level and ISU doesn't seem to show much there.

I do agree with that, but there are always.players like MJ Anderson that just need playing time. Do those exist? I think so. The real question is can our coaches identify and recruit them here through the portal for immediate impact?

I do not know that answer.

Ye is an excellent source of truth, I hear you.

I don't feel like a real identity has been established to recruit to.

There were great players doing things statistically that made it look like some things were established like TEs, etc. but after 7 years what is ISU's purposed strength on offense?

I still think JUCO might be a source. We have two, 3 year JUCO guys sitting out. Big guys - no idea how good they are. We need to get a little unconventional - apparently. Off you can bring in a few JUCOs and sit them a year it might be a path to improved players. Still requires coaching.

And Chico Marx said "who are you going to believe, me or your own eyes"?

You ever had someone get between you and a raise, advancement, promotion or call for you to be fired?

It's not honorable to do those things out of turn. If he's being asked his honest assessment, sure share things privately, but why go out of your way to make judgments about what *needs* to be done, when the only thing you're absolutely sure of is that you know you don't have all the information available?

I think we're all on board with what we're seeing, even Bruns.

That quote will be a poor defense if that is all that is given by OL coach or OC to justify things. Trust HC to have those conversations. We don't have insight into those in-house assessments, conversations, and practices. We just see what shows up on Sunday.

Bruns seemed to be willing to give the benefit of the doubt in week 5, for some of the things showing up, but that benefit eroded 5 weeks later as the same patterns are persisting.

As was mentioned by someone else, "let's give him til midway through next season to see how he handles his first bit of turbulence at ISU".

I completely agree, but you could have said all of this without saying "Ye said so". It doesn't help your credibility.

you're entitled to your opinion. I edited as that point was a distraction. you chose to focus on a tangential example vs the meat of the argument.

The OL needs more 'fat guys'. Campbell has continued the trend of Rhoads, signing skinny high school OL and TE's and trying to pack the weight on them once they get here. The result is a bunch of bulky guys with skinny arms and legs that just get pushed around. Go out and find the hogmollies!
