I don’t know man. Deadeye knows EXACTLY what CMC is going to do and he’s trying to bless us by letting us know because he’s a realist and we’re all morons for not bowing down to his omnipotent knowledge of everything Campbell will or would do.
I don't know why you guys are ripping on me for just giving my opinion. You know most coaches make this jump if offered. I just think you guys are looking through your cardinal and gold glasses on this one. I don't think he'll be offered the job, but I think he would make the jump if offered. FWIW, I don't think Campbell looks at this job the same way Chizik did. I think CMC really likes it here and it would take a good job for him to leave. Chiz was looking for the first way out from the start.

You’re not giving your opinion. You’re calling people morons for not 100% buying into your opinion that you’re stating as a fact.

The reality is that most all coaches take a bigger challenge if it comes up no matter what they have going. It's always been like that and it probably always will be. I mean why the hell does Jimbo leave FSU to go to A&M? Why does Harbaugh leave Stanford?

Jimbo for money. Harbaugh because he’s a coaching mercenary. He won’t be at Michigan much longer. He will be in the league again.

I was called a dip **** and have been getting crap for saying Cleveland was a better job than ISU ever since my first post.

Please show me a bigger challenge than building Iowa State into a consistent contender?

Have you listened to how CMC talks about guys like his college coach, the guy at South Dakota State—and Snyder? He thinks he can do that here.

A Big 12 program.
Great and supportive fan base
Making millions of dollars per year
Big man on campus
Solid footing in Midwest (Ohio) and Texas recruiting
Big time job security.

Or.

Cleveland?

Maybe ISU is a better job? Cleveland is a **** franchise in a **** city, and he'll probably end up getting fired within 2 seasons.

He's more likely to go to Ohio State and freaking Cleveland.

Get out of here with this Cleveland crap. LOL....

1. He's from the area. He doesn't think its a **** city.
2. He's a huge Browns fan.
3. You're setting yourself up for a lot of pain.

Pollard talked Chiz into going to the interview with Auburn. He said he wasn't going to otherwise. I never heard that before.

I am going to say I have no idea what will happen, I know what CMC has said, and I feel I know what kind of a guy and coach he is. I think he is a better college coach and a better fit in the college game. That doesn't mean he won't end up somewhere else whether it be another college or in the NFL. I hope he stays here and builds a dynasty. But that all is yet to be seen.
What I can say is people need to stop saying the NFL is more money than College. I will say the top NFL coaches do make a little more, but those are the coaches that have been there and proven themselves over a long time, to get to that level. The majority of the coaches make similar or less money than the average college coach. And the Higher paid college coaches are right there with the top NFL coaches.
We all know with the higher the program whether that be in college or NFL the expectations go up, and the fact of the matter is if you don't produce in the first 2 years on most of these upper end programs you will be done.
Your coaching career may not be over at that point but you will be in a starting over, probably rebuilding point. Again, if CMC wants to take that challenge at this point he is gone, But from what I see of him Money is not going to be the deciding factor.

The reason I don't take you guys seriously about any of this is because you would be saying the same stuff if we were talking about the Steelers. Iowa State>Steelers right? You guys are completely delusional about ISU and that's fine. Just like Tim Floyd and Fred Hoiberg. We have seen this before.

No I don’t think anyone would say that.

That's a really interesting read and gives a different perspective on Gene. I used to think he'd probably never make it back to Ames like some other coaches have for random recognitions and whatnot, but this may show different.

Hopefully if Campbell does consider leaving, someone shows him this part:

“I always wonder what that would have looked like,” Chizik said. “I always felt like coaches go to a place and if you leave after two or three years, for whatever reason, you always look back and wonder, 'If I would have been there a little longer, what would it look like and would I have been able to accomplish what I set out to accomplish?'"

I don’t know what Campbell wants to do, but I can say with good certainty that he won’t be leaving because of money. I’m going to assume he will get another raise this year, probably from $3.5 up to $4M/year. I don’t follow NFL salaries, but I would assume that is right in line with what Cleveland would pay.

And lets remember, Campbell doesn’t even have an agent. That alone separates him from most other coaches.
And another big factor is how much does his wife like Ames?
Not sure how old his kids are either.

Not really. If he goes to Cleveland that's his own fault. Won't matter to me. How do you know he doesn't think it's a **** city? A lot of people from Cleveland would admit that Cleveland is a **** city.
