Breakdown of UNI

Ohio could be sneaky IMO. They return a ton of talent and were a solid team last year. We did still beat them by like 30 so should definitely be favored, but playing MAC teams on the road is always stupid. Afraid it could be like when Rhoads’ team went to Toledo and got beat
Ohio will not be as good as that Toledo team but they aren't going to be horrible either. It'll be a good test for us, although their defense is not going to be good. If our defense is really good again, we'll bring home the W.

Thanks for the heads up. Will give me something to watch on Saturday night.

I guess the question I am left with is, how does a 4 star qb go from Power five to FCS? Seems like a big step down. I would assume as a Michigan native he could find a MAC school to give him a chance.
Coaching change at Michigan State and the Valley is a G5 level league that plays FCS football due to geography.

There's a reason MAC and Sun Belt teams won't play upper level Valley teams.

I would guess MAC and Sun Belt teams aren't playing the upper Valley teams because they get paid to play the P5 teams and then want their own cupcakes, so they're not going to schedule NDSU or SDSU. The entire Valley is really not even close to the level of the AAC, MWC, or the Sun Belt. I'm not strictly talking NDSU or SDSU, as they've been consistently very good. There's a pretty dramatic drop off after those two and then UNI.

For what it's worth, I believe UNI hit the portal to bring in 2 D linemen from Memphis and KState. No idea if they're any good.

I know this is our first game and our guys will be fired up to play, but I don't think they can appreciate how pumped UNI's players will be when they take the field against us.

I'm sorry, but do you think this is this staff's first time playing UNI or we're trotting out an entire team filled with true freshman? I'm not saying that UNI's not going to give us a game because there's a very good shot that will happen, but you're acting like our entire team won't be prepared. Clanton's going to want to send a message and our defense is going to smother them.

Did I say that? It will be the first time playing UNI for the majority of our guys, and as I said, I doubt they can appreciate how big of a game this will be for UNI. Jeesh.

Sorry for jumping down your throat lol. I guess I just don't want to use that as a pre built-in excuse. The last two years where UNI has made it tough on us, has imo been about our coaches lack of aggressiveness offensively and our horrible situational play calling, primarily between the 40's.

Come out throwing the ball around like you did against SEMO last year, and allow your playmakers opportunity to make plays. If you get into a game where you wait around to see who ***** up first, you'll turn it into a game.

Their defense was atrocious, just hopeless.

Their offense was sparky, but Heacock had the D ready and Ohio couldn't string anything together on the road. I'd expect them to be better at home, tho.

I feel like with these games against in state rivals, we only ever do just enough to win, which typically results in a loss. UNI, TOE, and even that dreaded Drake game that gives us all PTSD. Let JJ or Rocco sling the ball. We have some massive athletes on the outside, use the pass to open up for the run, not vice versa. Take the top off early, and then let Clanton's big uglies and the committee of RB's nail the coffin. 250-275 passing yards, plus 100+ rushing yards, and this has the potential to be a 2 score game.

However-we're young, its UNI, and the playcalling is still up in the air, so none of this will happen
