Brackins' Workout

Curious to hear about his workout.. But I am not giving any more money to ESPN. You would think paying magazine subscriptions and a cable bill would be enough.

It's nearly unbelievable that we won 4 conference games with Brackins and another professional player on the floor at one time...

Good luck to Brackins...all ISU fans should be hoping he gets drafted as high as possible after turning down millions to come back and play for the cardinal and gold.

jackson vroman played more than a second in the NBA. Brackins is a better player than he was.

This would be another point of disagreement. Vroman is better than Brackins.

Not a chance.

Vroman had a repertoire of inside moves. He could get his basket most of the time in the post because he could do so many different things once he had the ball.

I love Craig Brackins but Craigs only move is the turn around fade. He just didn't have nifty offensive moves. Perhaps he'll develop those still. Perhaps he'll never even play in the post.

Brackins has more height, size, length, athleticism. He has a better handle, better shot, and is a better passer.

So what is Vroman better at?

Craig's game is NOT playing with his back to the basket, and I doubt he'll be expected to do that very much in the NBA. He has a good enough outside shot to draw bigger defenders away from the basket, and is athletic enough to get past them and get to the rim.

The biggest question I have about Brackins is can he be successful playing against guys who are much more physical than him? I don't think he's especially good at playing through contact around the rim, which happens a lot in the NBA.

Vroman was better at hiding marijuana in his shoe, wait I guess he got caught doing that, so maybe he wasn't better at that either. (Not implying that Brackins hides marijuana in his shoe and didn't get caught)

The degree of difficulty is so much higher on the fro-hawk though, even if it wasn't executed as well. Not saying Brackins wins, but it's a good battle.

I suppose i will give you that. That one dude from Illinois State had the greatest frohawk ever though.

I would have loved to see what Brackins could do with Stinson and Blalock and Sully to stretch the floor. Sorry but Vroman is not better than Brackins. At all.

What about Vromans first year at ISU when he had the long, shoulder-length goth hair, that was awesome!

Agree with most everything you said. Not convinced Brackins is a better ballhandler. If I recall correctly, Vroman was decent. Brackins never really showed that much in terms of ballhandling (showed flashes).

The one thing I definitely give to Vroman is toughness. He played with attitude and a chip on his shoulder. In my opinion, Brackins never showed it, or at least much of it.

then why didn't we see this in three years here? Mac even ran constant isolation plays, where craig would end up posting up and getting pushed all the way out to the three point line. Then he would either shoot the turn around fade away, or the pull up off one dribble. neither of which was aggressive in nature and taking it to the rim. Craig is one of the more overrated players that iowa state has had imo. Don't get me wrong he did some amazing things, and stuck with the program while it was down, but he also constantly pouted when things weren't going his way. Even telling kansas players that he didn't like them double teaming him, when it was our first match up with them, knowing that he has to go to allen feildhouse to play them again in a couple weeks.

Defensively Jackson Vroman was heads and shoulders above Craig Brackins. Craig couldn't even check his man out everytime. Craig would also lose his man on freaking in-bounds plays.
