Bracketology 2024

Sure, we are probably a 2 seed (maybe a 1) if that happens. But what if we drop one of our remaining games and only win one game in the conference tournament? I don't think most people are assuming best case scenario like you just laid out.

I wasn't speaking about our seeding today. I was literally outlining our ceiling.

I really don't think that bracketologists spend a lot of time worrying about location when doing their seeding.
If I'm Omaha I'm on the phone with whoever they need to be talking to begging for Kansas and ISU. The downtown Omaha economy would get a big bump I would imagine. Definitely not the committees priority though

One thing I always find interesting is how much weight the committee does or does not put into the Conference tournaments. If Iowa State would win out and the beat Houston in the title game, how do you keep us off the 2 line? It just seems like some years the seeding is already decided by mid day Saturday.
A 1 seed has to be in play if that happens. Nobody is taking control of the 4th 1 seed right now and our quadrant wins would be too good for us not be considered for a 1 seed

Purdue as the 1 and Marquette as the 2 in our bracket, yes please!

Paired with a slightly overrated 2 would be a good scenario

CW said that he was sitting by Palm yesterday at the WV game, and Palm told him that ISU still had a lot of work left to do to get placed in Omaha. I guess beating WV was enough? ISU may have some work left to do to secure a three seed in Omaha, but not a lot of work left.

I wonder if Palm thinks Wisconsin has done enough damage lately to their resume to fall below a four or five seed.

Friendly reminder

Interested in this as well, I seem to recall the committee saying the conference tournaments don't really matter as far as SEED goes.

Palm is a f*cking moron. Minus a huge collapse, Iowa State is basically a lock for Omaha and close to a lock for the MW region.
What would you consider a "huge collapse"? If Iowa State finishes 3-1 and loses in Rd 1 of the Big 12 tournament, its possible that Baylor jumps up ahead of us and if Alabama or Auburn are ahead of them, Baylor would get Omaha. It'd take a hell of a finish by Baylor, though.

I'd say we're probably a 60% chance of Omaha.

Baylor has at least two more losses coming. Including tonight.

The year we beat KU in the finals and then lost as a 3 seed to UAB we absolutely jumped a seed line between Friday and selection Sunday.

Arizona would be the 4th #1 seed as of today.

Arizona is getting a lot of mileage out beating a bunch of mediocre to bad teams. 7 teams in the Pac have below .500 records. That's terrible. Zona's losses to Stanford and Oregon St should automatically pull them off the 1 line. Their Q1 and Q2 wins are full of soft Qb teams. Yeah they quads add up to nice looking numbers but I think their needs to be some context added to their resume. The Alabama and Duke wins stand out but the rest is pretty meh. They shouldn't be rewarder for their non con when their conference slate is dog nuts.

Palm is a moron but we are far from a lock to Omaha. Likely in position for now. Need to stay ahead of Baylor and preferably Alabama and Auburn too.

Illinois would have to get real hot to pass us now I think. They do have three Quad 1 opportunities left at Wisconsin, vs Purdue, and at Iowa.

Seeding 1-68 is always done without regard to location.

Once that 1-68 list is finalized, a computer program does the actual bracketing and location placement for the Committee. Any bracketologist that knows what they're doing will follow the same process and can replicate what the computer program does.

A LOT of people have UNC as the 4th #1, it's pretty close to 50/50 between UNC and Arizona right now

Just for fun, a blind comparison:
