Bowl Situation Thread

If Clemson won, they would get the ACC's spot in the BCS with VT probably claiming an at-large bid since they'll still (most likely) be ranked in the top 10. That "could" stop Michigan from getting a BCS bowl bid.

would VT get one over KSU/OU/Baylor??

Alright, here is a complete mathematical breakdown of how would Oklahoma State pass Alabama for the #2 spot. There are a few givens for this situation:

Oklahoma State would move ahead of Alabama in two additional computer rankings, meaning they would be #2 in 4 of 6 (at least) while Alabama drops to #3 in 4 of 6.

Human voters only vote Oklahoma State & Alabama as either #2 or #3 (this is for mathematical simplicity, as it could very well not be true).

This is just one example, obviously more #2 votes than shown below in one human poll than the other could offset more #3 votes in the other.

40 of 115 members of Harris Poll must vote Oklahoma State #2
14 of 59 members of Coaches Poll must vote Oklahoma State #2

Would result in BCS average of .9411 for OSU, .9388 for 'Bama.

or for another example

15 of 115 members of Harris Poll must vote Oklahoma State #2
22 of 59 members of Coaches Poll must vote Oklahoma State #2

Would result in BCS average of .9400 for OSU, .9399 for 'Bama.

Obviously you can change up the numbers in a multitude of ways to get different variations of Oklahoma State pulling ahead.

Call me crazy, but I think Okie State has a shot for the NC.

They were behind Va Tech in the human polls, this will shoot them up along with the computers... could be close.

CBS Sports Jerry Palm has updated his projections tonight. Obviously these can still change based on tonight's finals. He has us going to Washington D.C. to play N. Carolina

Since I live right outside DC, I would LOVE this! DC can actually be pleasant temp wise around Christmas time; and there is a ton to do here (obviously). I think Cyclone fans would really enjoy being out here.

Indeed, this isn't actually as far off as some people thought (me included) after I've done the calculations. However, you are still going to need a handful of people to vote Oklahoma State #2 over Alabama but it is only on the order of 15-30%

Look, I think it is fairly simple. I think the conference can/will bully the bowls and get us the Holiday if the conference gets 2 BCS teams. If not, I hope the conference bullies NYC to pick Missouri and we can free agent it....hopefully to San Fran. I could get behind Washington DC too.

Didn't Gundy ruin this opportunity when he said "Alabama lost to LSU, the #1 team in the country and we lost to Iowa State?"

P.S. I would love for Oklahoma State to play for the National Championship in which we are the only team in the country to have beat either one of them!

So, do all the bowl selection people gather in a room somewhere? Or is it all done by phone, one-at-a-time? This seems like it might be a classic (and complicated) smokey boardroom meeting. It is hard to imagine the order and structure through which they will actually make the decisions, especially when it gets low in the bowl pecking order.

actions - i.e. kicking the **** out of OU --- speaks louder then words.

I've seen a couple people tweeting about how they will now vote for OSU #2... I don't think it is too far-fetched
