Bowl or Bust

There's a world of difference between 4 and 6, I would say in the grand scheme of ISU football and coming off of 2 wins that 6 wins is pretty good, yes. 4 would be pretty ****.

I have been told by Haverhill that 6 wins is bad. No good. Now you are telling me that is good for ISU.

Our inexperienced players are actually beating out the returning starters from the previous year. Jordan Harris beating out starter Kane Seeley. Tucker beating out starter Vernell Trent. Jomal Wiltz and Brian Peavey beating out Ken Lynn. Taiese beating out Oni Omoile.

There is a difference. When newcomers beat out the first stringers from the year before that is a positive thing. That indicates improvement.

Come on man. A player coming in and beating out a starter on what was the worst defense in college football is not shocking. It is expected.

Iowa should be so proud........scoring 17 points against that defense in their loss to Iowa State. And that was with a 1st round draft pick on the Offensive Line that won't be there this year. And their career record WR that is now gone. Along with their now departed leading rusher as well.

We should simply just demand that we have winning seasons every year. I hear that is all we have to do. Demand it.

Nobody is saying that but we haven't had one in 5 years. Sooner or later coaches making millions have to be accountable.

What's wrong with demanding success? People spend a lot of good money, we shouldn't be happy to settle for bad or mediocre football.

Its funny that Iowa fans are talking **** even though we are better than them. We will beat them, again. They will likely end up with more wins though just because they play in the B1G.

You do realize there is a difference between talking **** and stating facts right?

That would mean 7 losses, therefore, <.500, so yes.

If you are expecting and won't settle for less than 7 wins, you are setting yourself up for disappointment.

For me, 6 wins and we keep Rhoads. I don't really care about bowl victories as they are meaningless...I just want to go to one.

If we can't get to a bowl game with a senior QB, stacked WR core, and talented running backs...then Rhoads isn't the guy. I will be rooting like hell for him and the team to succeed. But if we go bowl-less again, I think its time for a change.

I concur. Getting to the bowl game is my goal and winning it is just gravy.

I think this is a realistic expectation. Probably where I would be at as well if I were a Cyclone fan. If we just take your brief synopsis, which I agree with, at face value then I think it's fair to say the two biggest areas that will determine the outcome of the Cyclones season and thus Rhoads' future will be the development of the offensive line and the entire defense.

The biggest thing, and it's not even close, is staying healthy. Obviously injurys happen in football, but not to the extent that they have... And two years in a row for that matter.

No offense but i don't consider bowls to be meaningless. The liberty bowl was a dang disaster.

My comment was more about the definition of "bad." If ISU has a bad season, I'm pretty numb to it at this point. This is a bad football program, by definition.
