The old Outback Bowl is a throwaway bowl game too. It’s just that the temperature is probably going to be 80 degrees in the daytime.

I’ve seen a lot of negative comments about a bowl game in Memphis. Remember back at the beginning of the season when the Cyclones were
1-2, and then 2-3? After that start I appreciate the team’s effort to get us into a bowl game.

Two things can be true at the same time.

1- It was a tremendous achievement for the team to make it back to a bowl game after that awful start.

2- That has little to no bearing on the attractiveness of the bowl game for most of those choosing to spend their money to travel to it.

Memphis can be a fun time for sure. But I can see why some would be disappointed too

It is 100% the opponent for me. I went to Memphis last time and had a blast. Will probably go again, but the 3rd place or whatever AAC team playing a de facto home game is really lame to me. That is before taking into consideration the fact that they were the opponent last time we played down there.

What's wrong with Tampa? Been there a ton since I have friends there. It's a nice city for the most part. It's not overly exciting but there are some nice beaches close by and a few other options. Pretty relaxing place to spend a winter day in if traveling from the midwest.
