Bowl Gamewatch in DSM

I bet most bars will have a big gamewatch since both ISU and IOWA play the same day. You will most likely find fans wherever you go unless it is Front Row

A friend who is a big Iowa fan and I had a bet that if he lost, he would go into the Front Row with all my Iowa State gear on (shirt and hat).

Unfortunately he won the bet, and I had to wear Iowa gear and cheer for the Hawkeyes at Pitt game. Thankfully wasn't much to cheer for until the fourth quarter.

I'm sure for those of us that work downtown, we'll be stepping out of work early and heading to Court Ave. Johnny's HOF should be hoppin'.

I see in Juice today that People's Court has an ad for Pinstripe Bowl Watch Party starting at 1:00pm. Indicates they'll be showing the game on their big 150' screen. The owner, Tom Zmokek (sp?), is a big Cyclone backer (People's original location was in Ames for you youngin's) .

This might be worth checking out.

Downtown needs a better go-to sports bar than Johnny's. Awful service, and they draw a crowd that I don't appreciate at all.

But their bloody mary bar is solid, unfortunately.

Spent many a wild night at Johnny's pre-Court Ave. fire. By the time they rebuilt and re-opened, I had moved on from my hard nights of drinking era.

The way that page is setup it insinuates there will be some kind of cover or something??

Am I missing it?

There is Legend's as well, but you are correct sir. I love High Life/Bait Shop but not ideal for watching games.

Just got this from the GDMCC:

Bowl Gamewatches Friday, 12/30

A few options to watch your Cyclones play on Friday, 12/30...

Come to Saints Pub and Patio at 4041 Urbandale Ave in Beaverdale to watch the Pinstripe Bowl Game. Cheer on the team with fellow Cyclone fans in the backroom. Drink specials include: $7 domestic pitchers, $2.50 domestic bottles, $3/$4 well drinks, margaritas, Bloody Marys and mimosas. Saints full service menu will also be available. Game starts at 2:30 on December 30th. Families are welcome!

Keg Stand at 3530 Westown Parkway will be showing the game. Come watch the Cyclones take on Rutgers with other Cyclone fans!

I'm not a Legends fan either. Stale atmosphere, subpar service and a jack-of-all-trades/master of none menu.

I agree completely on High Life/Bait Shop. Awesome bars, but not set up for game watching. The Full Court Press guys need to do a sports bar. Buy out 101 and connect it to Hessen Haus.
