MLB: Boston Red Sox are loading up

Cybsball20,

Is your brother going to pitch for the Pirates this year or will he be traded?

I am a fan, not the manager idiot. I have been on the Red Sox Bandwagon since 1979 due to being on the Red Sox when I was 5 years old in T-ball. Trust me if I was a bandwagon guy I would not be a Cyclone fan.

The guy who spelled Adrian Gonzalez's name two different ways in his post and was missing a SS in his lineup is calling me an "idiot"? Umm ok, buddy! :twitcy:

I love being a Twins fan. Developing our own guys that we drafted and seeing them succeed in the Majors for the Twins. Mauer, Morneau, Kubel, Span, Valencia just to name a few.

Love guys who have no opinion in life and just go around finding little things to critisize people on. Notice you said nothing about baseball you just came on to correct people. In my opinion you are what I called you. What don't you form an opinion about a subject and voice that. Get involved in the discussion instead of just trying to find something wrong with peoples posts.

Did you read the thread? Everyone pointed out the fact that your lineup made no sense. My only opinion of the Red Sox is I dispise them slightly less than the Yankees. I don't care for American League baseball in general to be honest. I would love to have an intelligent baseball conversation, just not sure that would be possible in this case.

I can't wait to see what Crawford looks like in years 5,6 and 7 of this deal. Never would have given him a 7 year contract.

Then you never would have signed him. 7 years was a requirement for Crawford, and I don't blame him - ask for everything you can get while you're still in big demand.

There was no way Crawford was going to accept anything less than a 7 year deal after the Nats broke the bank & set the precedent with Werth. And I'd bet Crawford looks a lot better in the last years of his deal than Werth will. He's 2 years younger and as somebody mentioned previously athletic players with speed tend to age much better than one dimensional power hitters. The Nats are the ones who are going to be wringing their hands in 2016 and 2017 when they are still paying a 37 and 38 year old Jayson Werth $18 million per.

Twins could use him

I would like to see him on the twins. They are my second favorite team. It would be nice to have a hometown Norwalk boy on that team.

Also get used to the bumpy ride on the Creighton bandwagon fool. Especially since your coach is Greg Mcdermott.
I have also been a Red Sox fan longer than you Matt.

BAHAHAh didn't you just say you became a fan in 1979??? I was born in 1977. To a Red Sox family IN BOSTON...watched Bucky Dent...live with my dad.

hahaha. I bet you remember being two years old.

#1. You are wrong. Knownothing would turn circles around you discussing baseball.
#2. Seeing as you dislike the Red Sox so much and obviously love the National League we can assume that you are filled with envy of the American League and in particular the American League East. Is it their fault that they have solid ownership that wants to spend money and put a winning product on the field rather then put crap on the field and take a nice fat revenue sharing check from far more successful franchises so they can fill their own pockets?

I forget the shortstop, spell the new guys name wrong and it turns into this. I was hoping for some good off season baseball talk. I should have known any thread that Matt Perault made a comment on would end up sucking. Matt remembers watching Bucky Dent the day he was born.

My question is, what is all this going to do for Pujols? He's younger than both Crawford and Werth. 10 years, $300 mil was the number that was being tossed around before this offseason. These guys are both very good ball players, but they're not in the same tier as Pujols. The Cardinals' front office has to be crapping their pants.

The only detriment to him is that the big spenders (Boston and New York) have long term solutions at 1st, assuming the Sox get Gonzalez inked as is being discussed. Who's left to scratch Pujols a big check? The Mets? The Angels? I can't picture Pujols as a DH for at least 5 years, but who can say for sure.

As to the OP, yes the Red Sox are loading up like a slow pitch team. Even though they're playing the exact same game as the Yankees now, I'll never hate them as much so I'd rather see them win it. It's the lesser of two evils.

He is the best player in the League. I think the Cards could keep him. John Kruk said he would go to the Cardinals and tell them he wants 5 million a year more than the next highest paid player.
I don't know if the Cardinals can afford him and keep other guys to make it a good team.
I would even venture to say watch out for the Dodgers if they can get there ownership situation straight since the divorce is screwing up the organization.
BTW the Yankees still have not addressed the middle relief yet.

I didn't want to sign him. Trust me, my own team has enough problems with long term contracts, so I'm speaking from experience.

For now, he is staying. It will be interesting to see how the arbitration figures come out. The Pirates were shopping for a SS and both the Twins and Rays didn't want anyone but Joel, so those talks broke down. From what I have heard, the Rangers are hard after him so they can move Neftali to the starting rotation and just about everyone in the AL East wants him too. Personally, I would be surprised to see him still with the Pirates past the trade deadline this year.
