Booker's post game tweet

Maybe the coaches see a lot more in practice and outside of the floor than we do, and therefore don't play Booker very often?

Nah.. i'm sure it's because they prefer to lose games instead. :jimlad:

I think TJ said something about how the coach's "really value practice" when asked about Booker not playing the other day.

I think this tweet is probably an indication of why he isn't getting playing time. He's ticked off right now for some reason and he's in the doghouse it appears.

It's too bad too because he's a lot better than Percy right now. But Fred can't play him if he's not being a team player and he's not trying in practice. Fred cannot let the players run the show.

Well they should really value games as well. From what I saw out of him vs OU he deserves more time. The lights for some guys goes on during games and not practice. You have to play a guy in real time situations to see how they can play.

I think that's a fair point from the coaching staff, but if Gibson is kicking ***** and taking names in practice but then performs so poorly in actual game situations, does it really matter?

That's all fine and dandy if you want to let that go but do you want Georges Niang seeing Anthony Booker half-assing practice and then deciding he can do the same? No. It's a fine line.

I feel bad for Booker. Clearly he has some talent and he played well for us last year. I think he is just having some bad luck this year. If he could play like he did a lot of last year...we'd be that much better.

I almost think his problem is that sometimes he's too aggressive on defense. That's not a bad thing, but he fouls a lot. If he would come into the game and tone it slightly down, I think he'd stay in the game longer.

I'm not a big Gibson fan. Guy has potential but he's one of the most selfish players I have ever seen. He just throws up shots even when he's triple teamed and more athletic players are on him. Booker is a smarter player with more experience. I wish Booker would play more (and not foul so much).

I haven't caught much of the Applebees show with Fred lately. Has anyone asked him about Booker?
I trust coach but at some point just give us an indication.

I agree with this, you have to put out in practice. Otherwise practice goes to the dogs. It is also pretty plain from the comment, that Booker has been lacking effort in practice. Step it up Booker. I have said this all year, we need him. But he has to work for it.

I can see why he averaged 4 ppg in the Missouri valley.

Because he was a Freshman averaging under 14 minutes per game?

FYI, per 40 minutes, his MVC numbers:
Freshman year: 10.9 points, 10.3 rebounds
Sophomore year: 15.1 points, 9.7 rebounds

Yep, terrible per 40 numbers. Those aren't bad for a freshman/sophomore. MVC isn't a top tier league, but it's far from an easy or bad conference. Some of the players in the league are half way decent players.

This is a point that needs to be made. We are not there everyday like the coaches.

How about making a point to the guys that don't play defense? How about making a point to KL for walking up the floor, down 3 with 30 seconds to go? I can take bad play, but laziness drives me insane. John and Eric must have said 10 times tonight how tired the guys were. If he is leaving Book on the bench to "make a point" I think he is hurting the team. Put him in for a few minutes. See how it goes. If he commits stupid fouls, or takes bad shots, take him out and don't put him back in.

To watch Niang and Ejim always in foul trouble, or playing to avoid foul trouble, while Booker sits on the bench is crazy. He has played some very good basketball.

On a seperate note, if a guy is playing hard it is almost impossible not to commit a foul once in a while. I think Will got a foul in OT, and they said it was his first. How many open layups did they get? Why wouldn't he hammer someone and make them earn it at the line. He has to be stronger.

Maybe Booker should try and figure out why he's not playing. Looks to me like he has no idea how come he's not playing. If I were him it might be a good idea to figure out why he's not getting any minutes.

i just looked up some stuff on percy and while everyone knows hes not nearly the best player hes a young guy that probably doesnt need all the bashing. the guys style obviously worked for 18 years. sports are great but lets not belittle him. percy, if you happen to read this thanks for your efforts and good luck! college is more than bball.
