Chicago burbs
New DC will not be Heacock. It just seam like this would be a done deal if that was the direction CMC was going. Maybe Heacock has better offer or he wants to stay in Toledo but if he wanted to be in Ames this thing would have been done this morning.

Either way I am fine. I have faith in CMC that a back up plan is in place.

(now watch them make an announcement this afternoon) :)

I believe I saw he said after their bowl game that he was going to take a few days to consider it and make a decision. My guess is he'll make a decision tomorrow or Saturday. I would have to think that CMC has a solid backup plan if Heacock stays put.

I wounder if there would be a change in other position coaches if it's not Heacock. He is a secondary coach if I remember right.

I gotta agree with this. I also think Campbell deserves to know in the next couple days to give us sometime to work out a replacement. I tend to side that no news in this situation is bad news.

Was looking at flightaware to check the status of a en route flight. Happened to gander at flights coming into Ames and there's a private flight scheduled to land later this afternoon (from Indy). May have a new coach on board.

edit: Pure speculation

McDonald listed as CB coach. Assume Heacock would do DC/Safeties like he is now at Toledo.

EDIT: misread your post. Probably right that there could be shakeup. Would think the most likely options are another DC/Safeties or a DC/DEs or DTs split like ISU used under Rhoads.

I'll be shocked if it isn't Heacock. Would be crazy for him to stay as DC at a place who didn't want him as HC and Toledo loses a lot of seniors. To pass up a P5 gig as DC and more $$ at his age to stay at say Toledo would be quite shocking IMO.

At this point, considering we haven't heard, I think it may be someone else. At the same time, Christmas is in two days. Might be some down time before we hear much of anything.

At Toledo is job security(if there is any in coaching?). When your winning your job is secure. When you lose the fans complain and kick you out of town. (remember) So why should he leave a position that is secure for a "challenging job", no security, sell a house , buy a house , move your family...again, all to please the Cyclone fan base. There is "hope" that our future may be bright .....someday. This might be the coach or not. Let them enjoy Christmas, the bowl victory, and some family time. Your impatience does not create a panic in his life, chill out people and enjoy your family at Christmas.

Go Cyclones!

I heard that he has two hs age daughters. Not sure he wants to force them to move again. Just a rumor, but makes sense to me as to why it is taking so long for him to decide. Its a dead period. Not a major time crunch here, in my opinion.
