Because what else are we gunna do today?

This might be the first team in a while that is actually smaller than ISU.
F Watkins 6-9 230
G/F Drmic 6-6 200
SG Igor 6-4 200
G Elorriaga 6-2
PG Marks 6-3 205
First guys off the bench are 6-5 combo, 6-3 gaurd, and a 6-8 240 post.

Very similar style as the cyclones, so who guards who?

Which matchup can we exploit?

From reading just a bit about them it sounds like they play a similiar style to us. Up-tempo and aggressive. Match-ups will be key and may develop as the game progresses.

I watched the first half of the game and i thought they were pretty impressive. South Carolina's size and style of play (Frank Martin push them down and grab a rebound) didn't bother them. They shoot the ball well and seemed to rebound well for being smaller.

i would put Dustin the Australian kid, he seems like the guy we need to stop.

Should be a fun one and it is the matchup I was hoping for, over/under could be like 180.

We will get our points. We have too many weapons for them. If we can stick to defensive principles, I think we can pull away.

I was disappointed with the number of second chance points we gave up yesterday, although that one guy was a beast.

Added PPG and my predictions. My guess is Fred plays it pretty straightforward. Could see Naz on Elorriaga as well if Kane gets in foul trouble.

I liked this tweet from CBS's Rothstien I saw...

Diamondhead final bw Iowa State and Boise State will be like Warren Moon and the Houston Oilers in the 90s. Straight run and shoot!

This game is going to be fun, high scoring and I am guessing quite a few lead changes. I am feeling a BYU type pace/game.

I gotta believe Kane will be on Marks. He's a bigger type PG, and has the ability to get to the basket when he wants. No flashy stats this year, but I've seen him go off before.

So we have #5 RPI and Boise is #23... this would qualify as a better win than v Iowa in RPI calcs. ESPN's BPI is more realistic with us at #7 and Boise at #50. Either way this is a SoS builder and an opportunity to play a quality opponent late in December.

I really like the schedule CFH and the front office put together this season. This is the perfect tournament for them, right teams at the right time.

Interested to see them play against a style similar to theirs as I think Baylor and OSU will try to play run and gun offense against ISU as well.

The one concern is Drmic?
He is a strech 4 that is currently playing well in Hawaii, averaging 25.5 points/game. He had 30 last night (21 in the first half), with 2 three's made. Miles Simon was speculating last night that Niang wouldn't be matching up with him, mainly due to concern that Drmic would get in foul trouble. I thought that was interesting due to Niang's only limitations this year where when he would have foul issues, appearently this is a issue for AM too.
I am guessing we'll use the "Tree" defense from last night, double team Drmic and force the ball out to the other players. I also think that Ejim will be his primary defender in Man-to-Man D. Likely Fred will iso and attack Drmic to try to draw him into foul issues when on offense, especially if Niang draws him on D.

They play a style similar to ours, but from what I saw, I don't think they have the horses to keep up with us. Assuming we're shooting the ball decently.

I'll be really surprised if this game stays close for long. ISU will be down at the beginning (like usual) then pull away easily similar to the Akron game. There was nothing about Boise that worried me in the slightest.
It'll be the perfect ending to Christmas day.

Drmic is not a post player. He scores on drives and cuts to the basket and some 3s. Niang is not quick enough to guard him and he is way too small to guard Niang. He might be 6'-6" but he is skinny. I'm guessing Hogue guards him. I would like to see us go at him on defense, since he will have to guard Hogue or Ejim. We should be able to score inside against them all night. The size they do have, is big and slow other than maybe Watkins.

Whoever guards Eliorraga just needs to stay with him at all times. He extremely slow and has a slow release but doesn't miss 3's when he is open. The only way he gets open is if you choose to leave him to help on a driver.

Yeah, Marks is a better player than Elorriaga, and Elorriaga is better matchup for Matt since he really just has to guard the 3 without helping much. Guarding a great spot up shooter can be a relatively easy thing to do.

They screen a bunch for Watkins and they can get other guys open when people help inside. I figure we'll switch a lot if them.

To be honest, this game worries me some. Boise is a very good shooting team, especially from 3 point range. Now, they don't shoot it from there any more than ISU does, or even quite as much, but as a team they are shooting over 40 percent from 3, and one guy is shooting almost 60 percent and he shoots it a lot.

I think the key will be giving them only one shot, getting the rebound and getting out on the break. BSU looks kind of like BYU, but not as athletic as them. I don't think their bigs will be able to keep up with ISU's bigs in a transition game. Boise ranks 214th in rebounding, ISU is 9th, so if ISU dominates there like they should it will be another win.
