So if I get in touch with Campbell, tell him my son is dying of cancer, and would love an autographed ball before he dies, then take a picture of the ball in my man cave, post it somewhere how I fooled him, that would be okay?
My god it's incredible what they can do with deep fake stuff. I know that it looks a little fake, but it's also something someone threw together in a couple of hours.

Is that what happened here? I have not heard that part of the story, if it is. Cameo doesn't have to include a sob story, convincing the person to say your message. You pay your money and you type what you want them to say. It feels like you're injecting this dying son angle, when I don't believe that's what happened.
Besides not even being remotely close to the same thing, you weren't too far off on your comparison

So, why are you drawing comparisons to someone lying to Matt Campbell about a dying child to get him to record a similar video?
You have no idea if that's what happened here.
The kid could be dying of cancer and maybe his sister got hit by a bus and is now in emergency surgery to stop internal bleeding
The tone of the message gave me the impression the purpose was to cheer someone up who was down on their luck or something similar. I’ll be honest, I really don’t see the humor in it. And I have no idea how Cameo works or why that would make a difference.
The pretense is literally, I pay you your requested amount, you send me a video with the script I requested. You keep trying to inject this alternate scenario of a sick kid, for some reason.
Not really. The secretary usually handles requests like that. I’d say making a short video actually takes more of their time.
It's an empty gesture. The fact it is so easily spoofed proves that.

This. You can pick from a drop down of reasons for requesting a video on Cameo, and they're all pretty innocuous. There doesn't have to be any reason listed at all. you put in your script and submit. And if the person wants to record it, they do it. That's it.
How much money is involved and would you expect Stoops and Fran pocket it? That may change my mind slightly.
The video recorder sets the amount. This started out as Michael Rapaport doing a bunch of videos yelling at fantasy football losers and ****. You're taking it way too seriously.
