Bob Saget has died

Many years ago I hit the back/top of my head hard getting up while assembling a loft for my sister in law in her college dorm room. Some of the legs of the loft came off the ground when I did it and it was one of those heavy 2x4 construction ones. I didn't think I was concussed, but I started having vision problems soon after. I went in after a few days to get it checked out and ended up with an MRI. Turns out they saw some nerve atrophy in my eye and were worried about a much more serious condition. Luckily the MRI came out negative and the vision issues went away after several weeks.

He was in a hotel, so I see it as much more likely when you're away from your home turf. I've knelt down under our center island and jacked my head on the quartz when standing up in our own home, knowing where it was - if you don't have your bearings around you, it's a whole lot easier. He was likely walking backstage before his set, which commonly has rough edges and unexpected machinery. Also, if he was in a hotel and it was one of those bath/shower combos, those are notoriously easy to fall in if you have to step over the edge (especially if you're, what was he, 65?).

I think it would be within normalcy for an aging man on his own (especially if he's a bit of a klutz, like me) to hit his head, either get embarrassed or assume it's nothing, and go to sleep.

I don't think they specifically would have said no drugs or alcohol if there were, just because it's so easily disputed from an autopsy.

hitting your head and hitting it hard enough to have an intracranial hemorrhage are two very different things.

A Google search tells me Bob was 6'4".

If he were to slip and fall while taking a shower in a shower/tub combo, he'd be hitting his head on something. Maybe he blacked out for a moment...or more...but was able to get to bed?

I'm going to take the medical examiner at their word and trust that his death was a terrible accident.

As someone in the "Well Over 6'-0" Tall Club" myself, we hit our heads on nearly everything. We're used to it :jimlad:

I would think you'd have to hit your head hard on something for this to happen. But it could just be bad luck.

Right, and drugs and alcohol are very easily identified in an autopsy. I don't know why there would be a big conspiracy to start hiding it with Bob Saget? He's admitted he had drug and alcohol issues in the past, but had stopped.

There are plenty of other well-loved celebrities who DID die of drugs/alcohol who I'd think would be more likely to cover it up. Heath Ledger was this-close to an Oscar when he ODed. Phillip Seymour Hoffman was one of the critical darlings at the time of his passing. Tom Petty, Prince, the kid from Glee - these are all people who had bigger current careers than Bob Saget. The conspiracy theory just doesn't track here.

not sure of your point. Even if drugs not involved something doesn’t add up. I see head injuries all the time. You don’t get fatal intracranial hemorrhages from “bumping” your head. He fell, someone hit him, or something else. Personally, I don’t care. Funny dude but I didn’t know him. Dead is dead. Whatever.

Where did they say he didn't hit his head as a result of a fall?

Yeah, again, he was in a hotel. If you're in one of those bath/showers, I've had them where I've fallen before in hotels. Some of them are very slippery.

fainted fell backwards would be an example here of what could happened, no drugs/alcohol his system, then he is a bit shocked and rattled and goes to bed.

I wonder what the last guests did in there to make it so slippery? Semi related question…does anybody take a bath at a regular hotel??? I was staying up in the SC area last week and a guy I was working mentioned he took a bath the night prior. Totally grossed me out.

Dear god, no.

Head injuries are weird, I knew someone with a pretty normal fall that something similar happened to.

Also these stories are the stuff that never leaves your mind, every time I do something dumb and hit my head or see my kid hit their head they instantly come back.

Something similar happened to a relative. He was working in his shop, and was found dead. It sounded like something fell from a shelf above and hit him in the head.

I have a friend that fainted one morning and ended up with a concussion that caused a lot of damage and took years to recover from. She’s still not the same.

It’s not that crazy to think the same sort of thing might have happened.

True story from this week. I stayed at a new Courtyard. Took a shower. Used a towel to dry off. The towel had been previously used- and not in a good way. Absolutely gross.
