Bo Williams

If I'm a coach and I have multiple running backs that have sure hands, breakaway speed and can block in passing plays, I play all of the qualified individuals.

If it's third quarter and starters are starting to wear down - put in a fresh back. Same for 2nd quarter and fourth quarter.

If Bo's style doesn't quite fit the coaching philosophy, it may be an advantage to both team and individual.

Call me overly optimistic... but it's 12 days until a team I freaking absolutely love takes the field. Use all your weapons in war.

This. I think we have a 'stable' of decent backs, with different talents. Think of how many screwdrivers you own, each with a different purpose. There are jobs for each.

Intangibles

From what I recall hearing coaches say in interviews over the years, his issues aren't athletic (he has the physical tools), but more of the intangibles ("learning the system"). And it seems like he had setbacks that may have related to his "fit" in the former regime. Again "intangibles" that may have more to do with coaches than athletes.

I expect to see him come into an early game, find his groove, and show his contribution to the team. Then, the "intangibles" will all be in his favor!

Isn't Bo the back with the most "breakaway" speed?

No. ARob is still the fastest RB we have in all aspects... unless James White is really fast... I don't know much about him?

As far as Herman having designated plays for Bo... no way IMO. Herman has an offensive system... period. 95% of it is going to be in the spread formation and in the shotgun. Of course there will be some power running plays for short yardage situations, BUT I'm almost positive there won't be plays designed for each RB.

ARob is our clear #1 right now, and nobody knows for sure how the rest of the depth chart looks. The only thing we know for sure is that Herman said that a "couple of young guys have moved up the depth chart at the RB position." So we are all assuming someone must be moving down, but I guess you could have guys tied for the #2 and #3 spots, who knows?

I posted in another thread that I thought Bo must be in the doghouse, and I now regret saying that without having any knowledge whatsoever to support it. I've always hated putting down any of the players because they are all working hard. I apoligize for that.

Bo will see plenty of snaps. I think he will see the 2nd most behind ARob. He definitely hits the hole with the most speed of any of our backs.

HA! Him transferring would be the dumbest thing he could do. Leave so he can play 1 year somewhere else?
No, the dumbest thing he could do is to go on a message board, and before even the first game, post that someone will transfer at the end of the year...

We are all talking about Bo being second string to ARob and maybe 3rd behind JSchwartz. But he is just a sophomore. If he continues to develope he could easily win the job in the offseason. Apparently he needs to get softer hands, and I think Herman will do everything he can to get these guys ready to go.
Bo will be a featured back one day. I have confidence in that. But Arob is just more suited for the starting job as of right now. Only time will tell.
