Blythe

Matt jones was an Arkansas quarterback that was taken in the first round by Jacksonville as a receiver, since he was a great athlete. He has turned out ok, but definitely not 1st round worthy.

Jones is quite a bit bigger and faster than Blythe, 6'6" 240 (4.31)He shows flashes of brilliance but he was just drafted too high for a guy who has never player receiver. He was a combine freak though, fastest time there despite his size and strentgth. There have also been numerous issues with him giving up on routes, not blocking, and overall attitude. He was demoted to 3rd QB for about half of Jacksonville's games this year.

Man McCaffery was a bad***, the guy wore less pads than kickers usually do. With the speed, size, jumpball ability, hands, and confidence/cockiness I think Blythe will be a fine NFL WR.

RE: McCaffrey's pads

In the NFL, players are only required to wear shoulder pads and a helmet. All leg pads (insert pads) are optional, a growing number of WR's, DB's, etc. (speed guys mostly) are choosing to not wear these pads. In all pictures I've found of McCaffrey in the NFL, he opted to not wear pads.

In the NCAA, players are required to wear helmet, shoulder pads, butt pad (tailbone), 2 hip pads, 2 thigh pads, and 2 knee pads. If he's drafted, Todd will more than likely drop the pads completely.

When McCaffery was still playing I saw a TV spot on how he cut away most of the foam and padding from the inside of his shoulder pads to reduce the weight. That and they were not standard WR pads, they were more like kickers pads. That dude was a little crazy.

I remember attending a Physics class at Iowa State, where they showed that timing to the 1/100th of a second wasn't actually "possible", due to a variety of factors. How do they actually time these guys and what part of their bodies "breaks the plane" to determine start and stop time?

I had a convo with Todd Blythe yesterday when he got back (from training), He is running a 4.4 and expects to be a decent pick. will be interesting to see how our three boys fair, they have all been working extremly hard.
If no NFL for Blythe, Law School

Hey, just wondering if there is anywhere that shows that he does run a 4.4, he isn't that fast from my point of view

I love all the doubters and so does Todd. Todd has always been pretty fast, and anyone who watched him run track in high school knows that. You also have to figure that he has been doing NOTHING but working on his speed/skills for the last 2 months. Todd will make it, and I will be backing him every step of the way!

On to a more important question. Do you know Sedrick Johnson?

Hope my Vikings draft him. They need a big receiver threat, and bad.

More specifically, I'm sure he's been concentrating very much on strictly improving his 40 time. TB running a 4.42 is much more attractive to a pro scout than TB running a 4.6, as rediculous as that may sound. 40 times can often mean the difference between a guy getting drafted high, low, or not at all, regardless of their accomplishments.
