Blum: Scouting the Buckeyes

excellent work by Blum as always. However, every time after I read his scouting report I feel as if ISU has no chance.
 
People are way too worried about this game. Only chance OSU has is that it is a home game. That's it. Clones should roll.

Ha! Ohio State has many good players, but so do the good guys. I think it's a good matchup for Iowa State. Thanks for reading!
 
I think we matchup well at every position minus Craft, and maybe Thomas(just because he's so damn good). Fred will have a good gameplan to exploit matchups on offense, as always. OSU will look to pressure the ball handler to turn around and get easy buckets. Our key to the game is that Korie plays great like he did last night. If he plays within himself, passes out of heavy pressure and double team traps, and set his team up in a position to win. If he does that, Craft's main strength is virtually neutralized and OSU becomes a bit of a one-trick pony, so even if Thomas goes off like he usually does, we should win. All that is easier said than done, but I haven't lost faith in the guys yet this season so I'm not about to start to now :smile:
 
Two of these three things have to happen for us to win, IMO:

-Ejim and Niang stay out of foul trouble
-We are in a "zone" with our outside shots (better than they've been falling recently until last night)
-They have a bad shooting night
 
Having Bubu come off the bench when Korie gets a little out of control has been extremely effective in the last few games. Keeping him reigned is the make or break.
 
Playing the # 6 team in the nation for a chance to go to the Sweet 16... doesnt get any better than this!
