Blue light glasses

I had a bad ergonomic setup at work with my monitors being way too close to my eyes. There was constant eye strain, headaches, and not being able to stay awake after a normal work day.
I picked up some Gunnar glasses with slight yellow tint and my bloodshot eyes cleaned up within days.

Haven't needed them since switching jobs and having a better work setup.

I think investigative journalism has shown that some prescription lenses claiming blue light filtering lenses are completely bogus.

I'm quite sure for me it was the proximity and overall time exposure to the screens that was my overall problem. However the results for me of using blue light blocking lenses were extremely evident.

I don't use blue/violet light filter glasses for computer screen work, but I have had multiple pairs of Eagle Eyes brand glasses to reduce strain when outside or driving. They work for me.

I don’t wear/need glasses, but I work a lot on the computer. Have lately been getting bad headaches/eye pains when on for too long. Does anyone use blue light glasses? How well do they work for you?

I bought some cheap ones off of Amazon because I don’t want to spend $150 on something if they don’t work, but feel like I’m going to obviously get cheap quality with cheap pricing. If they work well enough I might be willing to throw down money for some actual nice ones.
I have struggled with eye strain from long days staring at screens for a a while now. It sucks. A couple years ago I went to an optometrist and got a low prescription pair of glasses with some glare reduction. They help a bit but not a fix all.

The best thing I have found that you can do is get up frequently and take a short break from the screens. Go on a 5 minute walk. Find a reason to go talk to a coworker in person instead of emailing or messaging.

You could also start a log of the headaches and try and figure out if there are other non screen things that are common on the days you experience them. Little sleep, dehydration, stress/anxiety, etc could all intensify the headaches and eye strain.

I thought the blue light thing was mostly thought of as like a gimmick health wise. I wonder if just the nature of lessening the light and glare from the darkened lenses are want is actually helping with headaches and stuff. My brother swears by his though as he spends a lot of time at work in semi dark with just a computer screen.

I got these 8 years ago as I used to start feeling eye strain in the afternoons. I quickly began using them all day. When I worked in my office I had three 24" 1600p monitors and one 30" 4k mostly filled with spec. documents and code.

A year ago my optometrist advised me to start using a prescription and to add the blue tinting. I think both help about equally.
