Black Friday

Just got back from Walmart. They let everyone in the store but had the door busters shrink wrapped to each other and said to not open until 12:01. Well they went over the intercom at about 11:50 and said to let the employees take the shrink wrap off and DO NOT take anything or else it may start a panic. Well one person grabbed something and it was like dominos, everyone else panicked and started grabbing stuff. Thank goodness I got what I wanted. Now I am going to sleep and not worry about getting up tomorrow morning.

What was the special at Toys R Us? Drove by the one in clive at 10 pm and the lot was completely full and there had to be a few hundered waiting in line.

Standing in line now at walmart, can't touch the item until midnight so lines are forming everywhere.

LOL...you arent in Cedar Rapids then I take it. I rolled in at 10:30 for something on sale at midnight and everything was pretty much already worked over and gone

+1

At 11:00 I drove by the Toys-R-Us here in Tucson and the entire parking lot was full with people still trying to find parking spots and there was a line about 100 people deep going out the door.

I then drove by WalMart and Best Buy on the way home and there were people literally camping out with tents and sleeping bags by the front door waiting for the doors to open. Funny thing is that it is supposed to be 29 degrees here tonight (cold for southern Arizona)!

There needs to be a waiting in line thread, can't believe there aren't more CF'ers out waiting around! We may have the smartest fanbase in the world if I am the only one.

Had already decided against that LG tv, but kept a watch on it...

Newegg screwed up the deal... had a discount, but where it had been free shipping before, they now tacked on $70 for shipping.

Just got a new copy of Tekken 6 for 10 bucks on BestBuy.com I really liked the Tekken games and haven't played one for awhile. 10 bucks? Why not!?

Tekken 2&3 and Tekken Tag, oh man the good ole days... Tekken 6 better have Hwoarang, Byran Fury, Kuma and Orge or I'm going to be ******! Hopefully they didn't include Nina Williams because that ***** was cold.

Ok, just got home from Jordan Creek. (Never again!) I have never seen so many people out there ever! (muchless find a place to park!) That was the most insane shopping experience I have ever seen! Wal-Mart... had cars parked into neighboring busnisses, and banks! Best Buy? ...this should be no suprise, as there were people literally camping out in front of the store in tents! (very strange)

Amazon is matching a lot of electronic and blu-ray deals. Much better option than wasting time in line.

I don't get sucked in by Black Friday, but can't wait to watch all the fight videos on YouTube. Hope there are some good ones this year!

I went to the Walmart in North Ames and had to wait in line for the $200 labtop from midnight to 5am. They had 15 to sell and all 15 of us were there at midnight. Thank god I didn't so to the South Duff Walmart. I heard that one started selling midnight stuff at 11:30.

Just woke up and don't feel like I missed anything. I'll have to call my mom later and give you guys some stories. Shes a nearly 20-year Wal-Mart employee. New, crazy **** happens each year. I think she was coordinating the TV's section this year so there should be some good stories there.

My dad and cousin went to altoona bass pro and bought up 5 of the electric smokers... said they had Tons of them..... Can wait for him to drop mine off... I might have to find somthing to smoke this weekend!!!!

Went to Toys-R-Us in Council Bluffs at 10PM. There were at least 500+ people waiting in line to get in... We decided to go to Walmart next door for midnight sale instead, and ended up some lady yelling at me because I was in her way. Dude, I just wanted to see what they were selling cheap. What a violent/grouchy/serious Black Friday shoppers.

Report from my Mom at her Wal-Mart:

Usual crazy stuff. The night before an inventory of the quantity of each TV was taken so they could hand out a coupon for those in line (only up to the quantity in stock) to pay at register and then have the TV delivered to their car. Big issue of the morning was on a 42" TV. Someone accidently typed in 13 as their quantity in stock rather than 3. Therefore, 13 people got a coupon and paid for the TV and only 3 were actually able to get said TV. You know what hit the fan.

damn that sucks... but to most people on most days it wouldnt be a big deal, just get your money back... But for some reason on black friday it brings out the hattred in some people, which is really ironic considering the day before we are supposed to be "thankful"...

I have had to work Black Friday for the past 5 years (worked in retail), but now that I have made a switch to a normal job and have today off I decided to go out and experience the shopping side of it. Picked up some pots and pans, a desk chair, and a few other items for the wife at Target at 4AM (holy crap the Jordan Creek Target was almost impossible to move in) then did some shopping for myself at Best Buy. Picked up every season of It's Always Sunny for $9.99 a piece, The Hangover for $3, and then grabbed NBA2K11 for $29 at Wal Mart. Finished it off with a stop at Starbucks for the biggest coffee they had. It was actually kind of fun experiencing the absolute chaos from a customer's point of view.
