We are several years out from the infamous billboard JP bought off I-380 and it AMAZES me how this little piece of outdoor advertising STILL bothers the Iowa faithful. I just heard Miller make mention of it on the radio THIS AFTERNOON with contempt. It comes up in nearly every conversation with Iowa fans when JP comes up. They just can't let it go.

Are they that thin-skinned that a small billboard that was up on display for a maximum of three months YEARS ago causes so much pain? The audacity of JP to promote ISU east of Newton! How dare him. It really is funny to me - the arrogance that allows them to believe that this simple billboard is so offensive and a travesty is staggering.

I think JP should buy that same spot of ground and build a permanent brick and mortar display board and run it year round since it bothers them so much. It's the best mind-f*** on a rival since - I don’t know - Pink Locker Rooms?!?! When's the last time any of us complained about that? The whole thing smacks of the old playground tease - "You sure can dish it out, but you can't take it"

I saw a billboard for Iowa in Des Moines the other day!

The audacity!!!!

Mission accomplished.

I complained about the locker rooms roughly...10 seconds ago.:biglaugh:

Oh please. Like the ISU faithful wouldn't be raising hell if Iowa planted a "Hawkeye State" billboard on 35 right next to the Ames exit.

Except for the fact that our billboard was in the middle of cedar rapids, roughly 25 miles away from the U of I. So more like if you put it in Boone...or Huxley. I definitely wouldn't be mad if you put it in Huxley, I might laugh hysterically for a couple of days, but I definately would not be mad.

Its amazing that after listening to Jon's show - the same show they claim to NEVER EVER NOT IN A MILLION YEARS - listen to, Clone fans haven't figured out that occasionally Jon will say something to get under their skin. That billboard was forgotten about as soon as the Clones walked off the Kinnick sod as losers.

If you want to be mad at someone, be mad at the guy who sold Iowa State the Ad space. If I were JP, I'd be trying to buy ad space in the Hawkeyes Gameday progams. Would you be mad at FP for placing those ads in the program or the AD who sold the space to ISU? You can't blame the guy for wanting to get the name out there.

Why be mad at Jamie or ISU - the money is still green regardless.

Actually, there was a UofI billboard on I-35 just south of Hwy 30 last year and there was hardly any mention of it in the local media and such. I think ISU fans knew to just ignore it and it will go away and it did. It was replaced, however, with a big ISU when it's lease was up. I liked that much better.

From the sounds of Hawk fans, that money was well-spent.

It's a big sore spot for them. I know if a Hawk sign were put up near Ames, it would have been vandalized so many times, it wouldn't have been readable. Since when did Iowa fans not readily break the law and vandalize the Cyclone sign?
