I think this is pretty fair and not sure many Iowa fans (outside of Dan) would really argue that point much. It's when that statement that ISU would "easily" be bowl eligible most years playing in the B10 (OP used the word easy three times in one sentence describing ISU's road to 6-6 in the B10) is where Iowa fans start shaking their heads and it becomes a point of contention.

I never said Iowa would lose to NDSU. I was simply making fun of the fact that Iowa couldn't even muster 300 yards of offense and beat a team that got HAMMERED by North Dakota State.

Fully on board with this. I can't understand the people who watch this ISU team and think they could pull out six wins with any Power 5 schedule. At the same time I can't understand the people who argue the B1G is one of the best conferences in college football. I don't think it is as weak as it was last year, but I think it is clearly a step behind the Big 12/SEC/Pac-12 in terms of across the board quality. And at the end of the day, Iowa is still 6-0 in a major conference and Iowa State is on the express train to 2-10 so the argument between these two fanbases is pretty pointless.

I am as big of a fan as any, but why would anyone think we would beat Purdue, Rutgers, Maryland, Minnesota and anyone else for that matter in the B1G? "We should have beaten Iowa"? Even though they too scored more than 30 on us and made us look silly in the second half. I'm not so ignorant as to call them Little Brother either since history says otherwise. Sorry, that is my frustration coming out. Face it, we may have them in basketball for now, but when it comes to football, it just isn't going to happen. Other than Baylor, TCU, Oklahoma, every team in the Big 12 is beatable to the rest of the league. The leagues are pretty dang even for anyone who actually looks at it without their bias blinders. The Big 12 is a little more top heavy, but overall the number of good teams is pretty much the same along with the cellar dwellars. Worst thing we have done was fire Dan McCarney and I have said that since the day he left.
Yeah... nope. Sorry. You don't compare Iowa-ISU and NDSU-ISU in the same discussion as Iowa being 6-0 against FCS teams without trying to imply anything but Iowa not being 6-0 if they would have played NDSU. Nobody is buying that.

I'm pretty sure every fan realized ISU is a basketball school and Iowa is a wrestling school. They are better than us in football but that's not really saying much
Like I've said before, the difference between Big 10 and Big12 DL, LBs, CBs, OL and RBs is like night and day. There's a reason why so few players from teams like KSU, Texas Tech, KU and ISU end up in the NFL. From watching 10 games a year in both leagues, that seems to be the glaring difference. The Big 12 has oodles of WRs that are well schooled in that brand of football and make the game exciting but it's become a farce as of late. There's a reason why MSU was able to spot Baylor two TDs and still win the game after they adjusted. IMO those offenses were created because teams like Texas, Oklahoma and Nebraska were so dominant that the other schools had to create a niche to create mismatches or make up for in talent discrepancies.

ISU unfortunately has very little to enhance the B10, in either eyeballs for the big money sport where they have little tradition or history of success, or university academic stature that ranks as high as B10 members. The B10 is more than just athletics. There are other expectations involved. Iowa is very fortunate to be a member of the B10, a charter member I believe. It's not easy to win at Iowa. It's even harder at ISU. Thats just the cold hard facts. ISU certainly currently has a strong basketball team, and a passionate fan base.
The current round robin B12 schedule is tougher than the current B10 schedule, particularly the B10 West. I believe that to be a fact. I believe there would be more winnable games for ISU in the B10, but they would in most years still be at or near the bottom of the 14 team league, but with probably more chances of reaching bowl eligibility.
The B10, in general, builds football teams more suited to compete in a nastier cold weather climate where brute force and bruising defense frequently trumps pin ball offenses. This fact works to the B10s detriment for bowl games.

One of the more telling stats from that game was that Baylor didn't score a point in the final 20 minutes. Clearly the MSU defense was on its heels early, as would anyone against that offense, but they adjusted and shut them down when it mattered. Then again, it was the MSU defense, not typical and much better than most B1G defenses.
Yeah, right. The #20 ranked team in the nation (or #21 depending upon which poll you look at) "isn't very good". In the '80s they weren't very good; in the past decade they've been competitive and the teams they've had without injury have done quite well.

The Big 12 might be the toughest conference to compete in. That's a different topic than which conference is best. The only reason you think the B1G is a step behind the Big 12 is because the B1G has 14 teams, the bottom four of which are obviously bad. Put the B1G's top 10 against the Big 12 and there's no way the B1G is behind. Add four teams to the Big 12 and that bottom four will likely be much worse. The B1G has 5 teams ranked in the top 20, the Big 12 has 4.
The B1G has two elite programs right now, as does the Big 12. The B1G has three 'good' programs right now, the Big 12 has two. The B1G has one unranked team getting votes, so does the Big 12.
The Big 12 is clearly much, much tougher to compete in because of the round robin. But it's not like the Big 12 is a collection of better programs. The B1G's top 10 is better right now than the Big 12. We just don't have to play everyone.
