Big Ten

Big 12 continually gets embarrassed in previous BCS bowl games and their bigger bowl games when they face teams that actually play defense.

Going to happen again this year.
 
Since 2000

Northwestern 94-91 50.81%, one conference co-championship, 8 bowl games, 1-7 bowl record.
Minnesota 90-97 48.13% 11 Bowl games, 3-8 bowl record
ISU 77-108 41.62% 8 Bowl games 3-5 bowl record.
 
ISU can compete in the Big 12. It just needs the right leadership. How is the Big 10 working for Nebraska?

I absolutely believe Illinois and Purdue would beat Iowa State on a regular basis.

Tell me, what is kansas states all time record and compare it to Oklahoma. Tell me who will win!

Nebraska made one of the dumbest head coach hires in college football history. Hire a 62 year old man to bring 12 win seasons back to Nebraska? right.....................
 
If I had my way, I wish ISU would be in a new conference based around geography made up of KU, K State, Nebraska, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, NorthWestern, and Iowa.
 
Wow. The lack of football acumen on this board is astounding. That's to be expected with some of you 150lb civil engineers. I have season tickets to both ISU and Iowa. Graduated from both schools. The glaring differences between the two leagues is like night and day. Big 12 games resemble 7 on 7 football leagues with skill players well versed on ball skills. The biggest difference between the two leagues is the strength of the defensive front 7's. The Big 10 has far better LBs and defensive linemen along wIth better tackling secondaries. I have yet to see anyone on ISU's front 7 that would start ahead of anyone at Wisconsin, Illinois or even Pitt.

You still have to beat the teams you play no matter how bad they are. ISU has problems beating MAC teams, FCS teams, and Big 12 teams they should be able to compete with. What makes you think going to the Big 10 will solve all that.
 
When you nearly get 70-pointed by anyone, threads like this happen.

What makes anyone think ISU would win in any P5 conference if they can't win in the one they're in?

Iowa fits in better culturally and competitively with a Midwest conference- being a Midwest state- than it does with the south/southwest/whatever you wanna call it, and we could have natural rivalries with Nebraska and Minnesota and of course Iowa then in conference with us.

We still might not make a bowl game, but we would have a better record for sure. Out of the 36792 teams in the B1G, only a few of them are actually good. Ohio State is over rated. Michigan State is over rated. Northwestern got a dose of reality and finally played a worthy opponent this week. Purdue is one small step up from Kansas. Nebraska is a joke. Wisconsin is not very good this year. I don't think any of those teams would be ranked in the top ten if they were in the Big 12.

There are not 36,792 teams in the b1g. Other than that, you are absolutely correct.
