I'd be normally ok with a role for him next year in many aspects, and he's been a good Cyclone, but the drawback is LACK of rebounding. We definitely need some guys that are going to go up with the rest of the big12 athletic big guys.

It's a guards game for sure but you still need a big who is capable of taking over a game of needed.
I wonder why George wouldn't come back for one more year...unless TJ has shut that door for him.
He is Clone to the bone and has been at Iowa State for some high highs and low lows. Poor guy missed out on having a good big man coach in his early years which probably capped his ceiling some. That said, it's not like he was a highly touted guy coming in. I'm not sure he's been quite as good as most had hopes of, but he has been solid for most of the 4 years he's been here.
I guess I would like to see him back, just for big man depth if nothing else. Not sure you're ever going to get more from him than what we've seen this year.

Why would any coach tell a starting player during a current season that they don't want them back next year? Don't start that.
There are tens of thousands of reasons for him to go start playing professionally. Maybe 6 figures after a few years? I'm not too familiar with different foreign leagues and their salary ranges.
Daniel Edozie was playing in England last I saw and having great success there. I think most anyone would agree that when Edozie was at ISU his ability ceiling was not as high as Conditt's.
Also, George had some good experience playing for the Puerto Rico national team last year. That could have started some conversations or opened his eyes to opportunities.
Unless he comes back and does some combination of doubling his rebounding ability, halving his fouls committed, and shooting 35% from 3pt range he's not going to improve his professional prospects.
And if he's got maybe 10 years to cash in on his passion and body he was given why waste 1 more year?
What bothers me about Conditt is that our starting point guard averages as many rebounds per game!

As for the rest of this, I'm not sure what you've seen of George to think he's going to have a long list of suitors waiting to sign him up for their pro or semi-pro teams. I appreciate you bringing up Edozie as a point of reference, but I don't think Edozie is playing at a very high level in England, if he even is still. It probably has more to do with him being from over there than anything.
There is some truth to this. A lot of leagues have a limit on the number of foreign players that any team can carry, which provides more opportunities for home grown or in some cases players with close ancestors from said country. A buddy of mine has a wife born in the Philippines. His step son played college ball in the Philippines and ended up playing on one of their pro teams. His Philippino blood made him valuable from a roster standpoint.

Any team that doesn’t have a big who is worth a damn on the glass or a threat in the paint defensively and/or can score in some capacity will always have a weakness.
You know why Kansas State and Iowa State have 6’4” rebounders in the top 2 in the league? Because they have no one else who can rebound. Look at the rest of the top 10 and they all average 6’8” and are in the top half of the conference.
Saying you don’t need size is like celebrating in 2012 (Givens and Washington) and 2014 (Cotton-Moya) having defensive backs in the top 5 in tackles.
That is a problem, not a solution.
This is not to say remove Brockington from rebounding, but he shouldn’t be the solution.
