Big 12 new name options.

The fly over conference or flat states conference. Actually I like tornado alley conference suggested earlier.

Yeah... if we want our league to get torn apart... why not pick a name like MCL or ACL... lol.

It would set us up nicely for a transition into the Rehab Conference if things do fall apart in the future.

The Frontier 10 Conference.

The Pioneer 10 Conference.

The Buffalo 10 Conference.

The Wild West Conference.

The Sioux Conference.

Use some sort of historical factor that relates through all 5 states.

Stealing the name of the NAIA Conference that houses Northwestern, Dordt, Morningside, and Briar Cliff, the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) or some variation of that might not be a bad idea.

The name should be about corporate sponsorship or purely football focused. It's now a scientific fact that anything besides money and football is meaningless. The school that invented basketball got SHAT on and Nebraska got admitted to a league that supposedly cares about academic excellence. Either go with Insert Corporate Name Conference as others have mentioned or have a name that totally focuses on football.

Gridiron Athletics Conference
Gridiron Conference
Gridiron League of Universities

Any other football themed names people can think of? Seriously, someone tell me why any future plans for conference marketing should not be focused purely on football and money given the worthless status of Kansas basketball in conference realignment, and Nebraska now supposedly the Harvard of the midwest with it's legendary academic reputation.

Here are my ideas (some are even serious!)

Big Central

Big-35 (for I-35)

The Conference

The Big

Great Plains

Great Midwest (was already used by ex-Metro teams in MBB, but still sounds cool)

Sixtex Conference

IMKOT (state-by-state acronym, but it curtails expansion)

Texicana

The Human League

Ha.
The media could call it the "Great Glyph Conference." :jimlad:

Seriously, what are they going to do with the conference name? My guess is that we will continue with the Big 12 name....with a different logo of course. (Something like the X in XII would be "bolded.")

What's up with the rumors of the Big 12 talking with the Arizona schools? UA/ASU? (I think I read something about it on CBS/ESPN about it....involving the new tv deal and all...extending offers to the AZ schools.) I guess that would obviously keep the "Big 12" name going if that came into play. Anyone else hear about this?

If "no" on the Big 12 name....what are they going to go with?

Big Midwest? (The BMW)

Big Central? (BCC)

Great Plains Conference?

I say we call it the Southwest Conference and add Arizona, Arizona State, USC, UCLA, Cal and Stanford. We get the last laugh on Larry Scott who didn't invite us and stick it to Colorado in the process. The Texas schools are happy because they get their old conference name back AND get to play the Pac 10 schools they wanted to play. The Big XII north schools are happy because they solidified their futures as BCS schools.

Who cares if KU/KSU/Mizzou and ISU aren't actually "in" the southwest :) The only losers are UW and Oregon but we don't care about them anyways. Then, we laugh our way to the bank with all the new eyeballs driving up our new tv contract. :twitcy: Hey, I can dream can't I?

Oil division
UT
A&M
OU
OSU
KU
KSU
ISU
Mizzou

Gold division
UCLA
USC
Cal
Stanford
Arizona
Arizona State
Baylor
TTU

This is brilliant... my favorite suggestion yet.

No, add Boise State, all the Pac-10 schools that you mentioned, TCU, Notre Dame, and Arkansas and have 4 5-team divisions

Texas Division:Baylor, TTU, Tex A&M, TCU, Texas
North Division: Kansas, K-State, Missouri, ISU,ND
Sunbelt division:OK, Ok st, Ariz., ASU, Ark.
Pacific Division: Cal, Stanford, USC, UCLA, Boise State

Winners of each play a playoff to see who is the champion.

I saw somebody a while back suggest the

Drop a Deuce conference

I liked it because it expresses our fondness for Neb and Col.

I like Jayhawkscotts idea of the oil division, keep the current 10 teams and call it the CornOil Conference for obvious reasons!

here are mine they dont suck that much.

central coast conference
western superstud conf.
Eastern pacific conference
Conference Western Atlantic
Iowkantexlahoma ( eye yo can tex lahoma) conference ( combine every big twelve state together)

Why would you put coast or pacific of atlantic? I hope you're joking with these. Except for the Iowkantexlahoma, I like that one!
