I feel like, once it's a plane trip, 500 or 1000 miles really doesn't make that much difference.

Especially when they can shortcut the lines (ticketing, baggage, security), not have to make connections, and spread out on charter flights.

Distance for bus travel to/from the airport may be a more significant issue.
